How to Save Money at Bayshore Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have a reactive rescue who is unfortunately pretty dog aggressive. At times, it is difficult to find vet offices who really adapt their care to support the specific needs of rescues (i.e. having a different entrance to bring him in that is trigger free). If not that, his care comes with obvious discomfort with his reactivity and therefore, a projection of shame onto the owner. My sweet baby has had a very difficult life with many many scars and his features mirroring the existing stigma of “scary” and “threatening”. Bayshore Animal Clinic has truly been a breath of fresh air and, it is clear that they see Leif for who he is vs. the perception surrounding his breed. I only found them because they were the only vet who would see us the day before an impending hurricane. Sadly, I lived right by the water and the only evacuation option was my partner’s house with his dog. Dr. Bloom was phenomenal and opened my eyes to the concept of “doggie psychiatry” paired with positive reinforcement training. She, herself, actually owns a rescue pittie who struggled with dog aggression. So, she met me with true understanding, compassion and genuine care for Leif. She gave me the anxiety medication that I needed to ensure a safe living environment for both my partner and I but, also, our dogs. Then, I had a follow up appointment where she assessed Leif’s aggression, provided a list of local trainers specializing in positive reinforcement training and worked with me to figure the best dosage and combination of meds. This was over a year ago and I am so happy to report that Leif has made tremendous progress with his aggression. Please keep in mind, that I had been to multiple trainers and completed multiple “board and trains”. With the help of Dr. Bloom, I had made more progress in the 3 months following that vet appointment than I did in the last two years. Though, he may not be best buds with other pups at this time, it’s no longer burdensome for either of us. We have high hopes that his progress will only continue. Most recently, Leif had a biopsy for a small mass on his side. Dr. Bucki called the very next day with the results. Unfortunately, it came back as positive for a cancerous mast cell tumor. But, Dr. Bucki took his time to answer all of my questions, provided compassionate optimism, immediately scheduled Leif for surgery a month out and started a treatment plan. He then put Leif at the top of the cancellation list to try to fit him in a soon as possible. His surgery was scheduled less than two weeks later with Dr. Panzarella. There are not enough words to explain how genuinely kind, compassionate and thorough Dr. Panzarella’s care have been. She called me prior to the surgery to ensure that all of my questions were answered and kept me up to date throughout the procedure. I felt at complete total peace knowing that my baby was in the very best hands. Afterwards, I was given incredibly thorough after care instructions. Including a cone-free optional recovery - wearing a t-shirt! Since Leif enjoys the comfort of doggie clothing, I went ahead and bought some pittie specific pjs that are a little easier for him to move around in. :) Though, we are still waiting on the staging results, my worries are soothed knowing that I have Bayshore Animal Clinic in my corner.

The people are so friendly and happy - it’s obviously a good work environment. We have a wolfhound who has no overt health problems, but he still gets a very thorough going-over. I like that the group is proactive, but still mindful of the need for surgery and anesthesia being absolutely necessary. I trust them to care responsibly for my big goofball! 10 stars!!

Best staff, techs, and veterinarians I’ve ever met. I adopted my 2x Dogo Argentinos in CA and have taken them to various pet clinics in CA, MD, and FL. As a Marine I travel non stop, which is stressful itself. Finding Bayshore Animal Clinic in South Tampa made this last move significantly less so. They are an amazing team of wildly diverse Vets. Dr. Blooms is exceptional with her care and experience with our specific breed. Dr. Panzarella, co-owner and managing vet, and her husband are amazingly talented and built a clinic that is most trusted in Tampa. I would travel any distance to get our Dogos car s for at Bayshore Animal Clinic

This is the best veterinary practice I’ve ever been to. From the front desk staff to the vet techs; everyone cares about you and your pet. More specifically Dr. Duvall, who provides the best care for all my animals and takes the time to explain and walk me through anything I ask about. She is the definition of stellar customer service and I feel heard when I am in her presence. She makes coming in less scary. All the doctors are wonderful and I would be comfortable with anyone, but she just goes above and beyond for me.

This place really cares about your furry family member. If you're looking for a skilled and compassionate Veterinary clinic, Bayshore Animal Clinic is the right choice. A few years ago one of our cats was at her end of life, and the kindness this team showed through that jorney was heartfelt. More recently, when a four legged member of our family had an incounter with gravity, followed by an outdoor adventure - their bed side manner was remarkable. They made her feel safe and were able to examine her with no fuss. Tyler kept us informed about our options and was delicate, while upfront, with the cost estimate. We're very thankful for the team at Bayshore Animal Clinic. And pro-tip: if you need a pick-me-up try the nitro cold brew on tap!
