How to Save Money at Dr. Kathy's Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We've been taking our dogs to Dr.Kathy for several years and have always been pleased with her advice, care and reasonable fees. We recently had our puppy Ripley spayed and the job done by Dr.Kathy was nothing short of outstanding. Ripley's incision was tiny and healed super fast, she never even had to wear a cone or covering as she barley noticed it. Thank you Dr.Kathy and staff!

I've been taking my cats to Dr. Kathy for several years, she's a terrific veterinarian. I took both cats in last week and because I could only take in one at a time, the office was very accommodating with my schedule. The vet tech, Phillip, was thorough and very kind and gentle with my cats. Dr. Kathy takes her time with the pets and shares her knowledge with the pet owners. One of my cats is an old girl who was shedding very badly. Dr. Kathy kindly took the time to groom her which resulted in my cat being much more active. I highly recommend Dr. Kathy and terrific staff.

We just moved to the area and took all three of our dogs to Dr. Kathy as our new Vet. We were joyfully greeted by the whole staff who were outstanding and brought all three of my dogs adorable bandanas that had been sprayed with pheromones for calming. They offered treats and my dogs loved their pets and kindness. Their communication and technical skills for initial intake immediately made me confident I was at the best place ever. When Dr. Kathy walked into the exam room, she was beyond incredible. She explained so much to us and welcomed us as a family to our new community. I have been with VCA’s in two states before, and with Dr Kathy, I feel it’s so personalized and we felt the stellar care compared to other vets that seemed like an assembly line. Dr. Kathy got down on the floor for our older dog who has major arthritis and pain issues. She was so knowledgeable about helping him, and taught us so much. You could really see how she is such an amazing mentor to her team as well. We are thrilled to have chosen and found Dr. Kathy and her staff!! We love them and feel sooooo happy!

Dr Kathy is extraordinary and so is her assistant Chantelle. They both have always been spot on in the care of our two dogs and always treated all of us with much kindness and respect. As a family we feel blessed that we found Dr Kathy and this office.

Dr. Kathy and Chantelle are the best! Dr. Kathy and her team have taken the best care of our Husky puppy. On our very fist visit my daughter brought in a notebook full of questions. Dr. Kathy was so patient and happily answered every question! Dr. Kathy and her team are there to answer emergency calls and help assist to make sure our fur baby is getting the best care. This is the best place to bring your fur baby! We are so grateful to have Dr. Kathy and her team taking care of our puppy.
