How to Save Money at Roseland Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My experiences with Roseland Animal Hospital are absolutely amazing. Dr. Eric is the most caring and compassionate veterinarian that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He bends over backwards for his clients and his animal friends. Very affordably priced is the BONUS! His staff is wonderful and super accommodating. We are elated that our dogs always receive the best care at Roseland Animal Hospital. Dr. Eric was there for my husband and I every step of the way when we had to send our female Boston Terrier of 13 years over rainbow bridge due to acute kidney failure. RIP Halle B. - Now the circle of life begins again with the newest member of our family, SOJA. I will only take my fur babies to Dr. Colon. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Lou & Ronda Neville.

Not only are the staff all amazing here; so kind and compassionate- but the most important part is they actually care about your fur baby!! I have what one would call “a problem dog” simply because his breed. I’ve been to (2) Vets that charged me to not even enter the room and look at my dog to find out he had fleas!! Kinda glad though; because it led me to this office- Who I can thank for saving my very own fur baby!! No other vet would have went through what Roseland did for my dog. He’s a different dog now that we came here. I believe this vet to be our very own ‘dog whisperer’!! Thank you all- for all you have done for our entire family; We will always recommend Roseland Animal Hospital as the best there is!

I’m absolutely amazed, I’ve always like Dr Colon, so did my cat. I’m a disabled man with an amputation, my animal was my only company. He diagnosed her with breast cancer but surgery was dated 3 weeks out. I called back Friday, then the following Monday about her decline, before finally being called back by a receptionist,on Teusday, whose first concern was if I had the money, secondly decided to “ help me out” by postponing her own spay/nueter app, which should have been behind any LIFE threatening surgeries ANYWAY , but which still was over a week out. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. After the other vet called and requested my animals records ( because I could not emotionally deal with that woman), the “ woman” calls ME! Questions my decision to ask a 2nd opinion, and proceeds to engage me about my issue with the previous call. Mind you, I’m an emotional wreck. Now after finding out there’s really no hope, from the 2nd opinion, I was actually planning to keep the surgery date, with Dr Colon, or if worse happens first, take her to have Dr Colon put her to rest, but TODAY, as I’m laying there next to her, Dr Colon calls ME, and after asking what my problems were with his staff, accused me of disrespecting the office staff, simply because I was honest when the receptionist asked me what my issues were,,, accused me of disrespecting his medical education and knowledge , for GETTING a 2nd opinion and finally had me so angry as he spoke over me and went on and on and on, that I screamed back that I’d never ever recommend him again and that despite thinking highly of him for years, that now I see his true colors! Any vet that literally gets upset about you getting a second opinion, DOES NOT care about your animals , only the money . He was going to be her final doctor on her final day but now, after literally making everything about how I’m the bad guy for caring about my child, I would not recommend this heartless person to anyone who LOVES thier pet, they’re nothing but dollar signs to him. Oh by the way , receptionist with the short white hair and rude attitude, screw the ScratchPay program you were so concerned with , I sold my boat and had CASH. And I would’ve spent every dime to save her too. Now it’s too late, thanks for that. And please, find another field of work. And you Dr Colon, as I’m sure you’ll read this, I’ve recommended you for 5 years till now. That compassionate concerned act you have is great, very convincing. I only wish others could’ve heard how you spoke to me today as Luna lay on my lap . Called once, left no message , then immediately called back, just so you could blame me for a second opinion. Folks, what does THAT tell you?? Don’t trust anyone who gets defensive over something like that, it SCREAMS, “ something to hide”!
