How to Save Money at KindVet of Sarasota Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I lost my dog Bella of 13 years yesterday. She had a mass that had ruptured and letting her go was hard but was the right thing to do. My veterinarian is Dr. Jason Marano who has recommended this urgent care many times if his office is not available. I’ve owned dogs before and this is hands-down the best experience that I have had. I had no idea that my dog was passing, they were honest, but they were comforting and understanding they gave me time and explained everything to me thoroughly so that I could leave, knowing that I made the right decision. Their name fits them perfectly, I lost my Bella, but I know going forward that if I am ever in need of an emergency vet this is the place to go. Thank you guys for helping me through this process! I have another dog and if anything happens, I now know where to go after hours and once we get through the bereavement. With Bella, we’re going to adopt another dog in her honor. Thank you for taking care of us!

I don’t think I can say enough good things about my experience with KindVet. The receptionist was very kind and helpful, even on the phone before I came in. Dr Nichols was my vet, she was very friendly, knowledgeable and gentle with my cat. Made sure I didn’t leave with any questions, and answered every one I had. Arlene was the assistant during my visit and she was my favorite part. From the moment she walked in the door, she exhibited nothing but compassion for me and my kitty. She did everything possible to keep him calm and comfortable, which he surprisingly was, thanks to her efforts. I told her I’d never had such a caring vet before, and she insisted that should be the norm. I think she’s an angel! Your pet will be in VERY loving hands at this vet! Prices seem reasonable to me for being an emergency vet. It’s never going to be cheap. I love that they are open late, too. Will definitely be back here if I ever need urgent care for my pets again.

Even though my visit to KindVet didn’t have a happy ending , I would like to thank the team and the Dr. who was taking care of my Max. Any kind of emergency visit has a hefty price but I would give anything to make sure my pet would be taken care of. The team at KindVet made sure of that from the moment I walked in to the clinic, to the moment I walked out with an empty pet carrier. Thank you for the card I received in the mail and thank you for being there when our pets need you ❤️

I arrived at KindVet at 8:45 on a Saturday night. From the call on the way in, all the way to the service from the tech (Jessi) and the Vet (Dr. Nichols)… myself and my dog bean were welcomed with open arms and treated so kind. They were to close an hour later and they didn’t hesitate to treat him quickly, efficiently and with all the kindness and patience in the world. It held everyone up over an hour after closing. But we were out in 2.5 hours. Everything was explained in great detail and I was kept in the loop during all of the tests needed. It’s scary to need an emergency vet at any time of day or night, but if I do, this is where I will go. What a great team and facility to make you feel at ease while your pet is sick. Thank you very much for your kindness.
