How to Save Money at Emerald Shores Pet Hospital Resort And Spaw
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This Pet Hospital saved our little 5 pound Pomeranian, Kalamity Jane! There are no words to describe how great and reliable all of the staff are. They are reasonably priced. If they would not have picked up the phone as we frantically were looking for a nearby vet and seen her with no hesitation, our sweet little angel, only 3.5 years old, would not be with us right now. Emerald Shores Pet Hospital was caring and attentive to our dog the whole time she was there. They gave us detailed updates that explained our dogs conditions and kept us well informed. We went down to Panama City Beach, Florida on a Saturday with Kalamity for a family vacation. Monday morning, we took her to the dog beach at Pier Park. That evening, she began projectile vomiting and shaking. We knew something was not right. We started calling pet hospitals. While other vets would not take her because they were "to full", Emerald Shores in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida said they would see her as soon as we could get there! It was such a miracle to find such caring and trustworthy animal caretakers in our situation. It was about 30 minutes from Panama City. We got there around 5:30 pm that night. Long story short, Kalamity had extreme dehydration and had gotten into a lot of sand at the beach. PSA: DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE BEACH!!! The sand had blocked her GI tract which resulted in excessive vomiting and no pooping. After further testing, Kalamity had to get surgery to remove the blockage! We had no idea that sand could be that dangerous. Kalamity received surgery on her stomach by Dr. Sherri Dubuc, DVM. She worked extended hours and did a great job making sure Kalamity was well taken care of! The surgery was a success and they monitored her recovery. All of the staff were an answer to prayers. We got her back on a Friday night and took her home, to Georgia, Saturday morning. She is now recovering and getting stronger everyday! We are so thankful to have our perky Kalamity Jane here with us! Thank you Emerald Shores Pet Hospital Resort and Spaw staff for taking care of our little girl!

We were bringing our dog in and we heard the manager and the owner yelling at her employees. This place is not where you want to bring your animals. If they treat the employees this way then what makes you think they don't treat your animals like this. I didn't even want to give them a 1 but had to so I can make this post. Hopefully something will be done about how they treat people.

I freaking love this place.. Dr. Sherri, Tess, Ashley.. they genuinely care about my little basset Roscoe Bones. They were the first vet to meet him for his second round of shots.. then his booster shots.. Today, I brought Roscoe in for x-rays for a “limp” he starting walking with. I have been so worried all day.. so worried.. Well, I love the fact that Doc calls it what it is. I know he will always be in good hands. I enjoy how open and honest she is. It’s comforting to find someone that doesn’t only say what you want to hear.. my opinion.. Roscoe loves his women..

We have been going there for years. They saved my dogs life when he was bit by a rattle snake years ago and they have continued to take good care of both my dogs. When I bring them there they both run in wagging their tails and to me that is a true testament of their care! We use them for vet care, boarding and grooming and I recommend all 3.
