How to Save Money at Central Broward Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Been using Central Broward for 2 years now. I absolutely love all of the vets there. All so patient and helpful. Especially Dr. Oms and Dr CC. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. I trust them with my dog’s care and that’s what’s most important. It’s super hard to find good vets you can trust but we found our place!

I got my first puppy in December and I needed to find him a vet to get all his puppy shots and a general checkup. I knew I wanted a place that would take good care of him and was reasonably priced. After lots of internet searches and reading reviews, I decided to go with Central Broward Animal Hospital. We had our second visit today, and I have concluded that I made the right choice! As a disclaimer, they do offer a $5 coupon for leaving a Google review, but everything I write is my opinion and I will be fully transparent! 2 weeks ago, Arthur went in for his standard puppy vaccinations and a checkup. Like most dogs, he is not too enthusiastic about being in new places, so it took some effort to get him inside the office. The women at the front desk were very friendly and patient with us, and the vet nurse was an angel. I loved that everyone we interacted with was patient and kind. There are smiling faces everywhere, and it is a guarantee that at least one person will play with your pet (it shows they love their jobs!). The nurse (I wish I knew her name) and Dr.Oms were both very pleasant and gentle when they examined Arty and administered his shots. Lots of treats and cuddles were involved! During today's visit for his booster shots, we saw a different nurse and Dr.CeCe. Again, they were both sweet and he took his vaccine's like a champ. As a recent college grad, I was worried about the price of vet care. I do not know what the norm is for checkups and puppy vaccines, but I included my receipt to show folks what I paid. Of course every dog is different and goes to the vet for different reasons, but I figured it'd help someone to see what their prices are like. Also, they mailed a handwritten welcome card! I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be returning to Central Broward, I highly recommend!

All of the vets are wonderful, but I'm especially fond of Dr. Oms who has a great bedside manner not only with my dog but with me. She really cares about the whole family. The care my dogs have received is the best possible care and they always give options to help with financial decisions. The latter is a big help since I didn't buy pet insurance when they were younger. The only this I wish were different is that they provided emergency care. The closest very ER, called Advanced won't allow you to be with your pretty when they are examined. Central Broad ALWAYS slowed you too be with your furr baby.

Our little coon had an ear infection, and the treatment we received was very kind and knowledgeable.

If I could give 1,000 stars, I would. Dr. Lezcano is the absolute best!!! She took such amazing care of our dog Rockie! So patient and compassionate. Dr. Oms, who took care of our dog Sugar Ray, was also fantastic! Both dogs got really sick at the same time and they did everything possible to make sure everyone got better (and they did)!!! Last but not least, the staff is also incredible!!! So kind and caring. We are incredibly appreciative of everyone's efforts. I would highly recommend Central Broward Animal Hospital! It is the best.
