How to Save Money at Walden Lake Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Bailey and his team were phenomenal with our Great Dane babygirl, Maze. I think the prices were extremely fair, he was extremely straight forward about how his estimate process worked and that he could find more issues/require more medication while in surgery and overall took great care of her. We are so thankful for them. We came in and my kids and I were an emotional wreck after another one of my dogs snapped and took a chunk off of our sweet Danes ear over food, my battered dog came through the door with her and myself covered in blood. He and his team walked us through what to expect. The staff was patient while I was calling for updates every few hours. I understood from the beginning that he may have cases walk through the door that were far more emergent than mine. We have a long recovery ahead with several follow ups, but we greatly appreciate how we were treated and how after care was thoroughly explained. A million times, THANK YOU! —The Bennett Family

We brought our dog here after her regular vet didn't have any openings. The staff all seemed extremely competent and were very polite to us. Dr. Bailey took the time to explain everything in detail using language we could understand, from the plan of action all the way to the diagnosis, and we received multiple calls keeping us updated throughout the process when our dog had to be left for the day for tests. If we were staying in the area, we would probably be changing to Walden Lake because of the level of care our dog received. She is already acting much more like herself.

Edit to owners response: I waited so long because I don’t like to leave bad reviews but recently I’ve talked to several more owners who had a terrible experience at your clinic. I honestly find it dangerous to take your animals here. The doctor 100% told me he suspected possible internal bleeding while in the room with me. My memory is fine on what occurred despite the comment in your response to me. The doctor was very abrupt and rude. To anyone looking at these reviews just look how they respond to negative feedback. It speaks for itself. I had to take my mini pig Mavis in on an emergency basis on the weekend after she had complications from her spay done from a different vet. The tech told me it would be $150 just to come in but then in the background the vet said to tell me $225 because they were busy. He was trying to discourage me from coming in because they were busy. No other vet in the area would see my pig on the weekend. The doctor was rude and abrupt and told me my pig wasn’t stressed and that I was the one who was stressed. $600 later he couldn’t help me and said it looked like she was bleeding internally(which wasn’t the case at all). He referred us to UF thankfully. I highly recommend you don’t bring your pet here. The doctor is too rough with the animals, condescending, and rude. I’m thankful for the vets at university of Florida who were able to quickly diagnose my pig and save her.

Years ago as a teenager I brought my dog to Dr.Bailey and to be honest I thought he was a real jerk but in June I got a new puppy and Dr.Bailey was one of few vets in our area that did the procedure I was looking to have done to my pup so I took a chance. I will say I have read all the negative things floating around about him on the internet and maybe in the past they were true but people can change and I whole heartedly believe Dr.Bailey has changed for the better! He took his time and explained the procedure and the follow up care to me, he was upfront about the cost and even didn’t charge me for a lot of my follow up exam fees. He was always kind to my dog but he is a farm vet and will tell you the truth with out sugar coating it to some that may offend you but he’s just being honest. I only planned to use him for the procedure but I now faithfully take my Zeus to Dr.Bailey for all his visits. His staff has always been great but Dr.Bailey himself is really trying to change and I feel he deserves a second chance!
