How to Save Money at Bay Moorings Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best vet we’ll probably have ever had! The first time I came here I was worried because of a previously experience at another place but they were super welcoming and really seems to care (and I’m pretty sure every person on staff the first day I came with my puppy was fangirling over how cute she was). Everyone is so sweet and my animals love them! We recently moved 40 minutes away and I’ve been looking for a new closer vet but I’m highly considering just making the drive anytime we need to go the the vet. Thank you for being great!!!

If you care about your furry family members then DO NOT bring them here. Multiple issues have proven that they do not care about my sweet senior dog. The most recent being that they refused to email his medical records to me and said they would need 24 hours to mail them to my address. They arrived two weeks later requiring a signature and now have to be picked up at the post office- pics provided below. Prior to this incident - my new vet called during business hours to request the records but their negligent staff did not answer the phone. My dog had multiple tests done a few weeks prior that the vet wanted to see. We unfortunately had to do the exam without any prior records from this past year when I rescued him. The office is in walking distance to my home so in the past I had suggested to my fiancé to bring our other dog but now we both refuse to support this business. Now we drive 30 mins to a vet our friends highly recommended and are happy to do so because they care about our pets like their own.

I cannot say enough good things about Bay Moorings. We recently moved to the area and I needed to get my big guy Rocky established with a new vet, as he was due for a couple of his annual vaccines. The ladies at the front desk, Jojo & Michelle, are incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. When we got there, Rocky was clearly a bit nervous and distressed. He’s a covid pup so I was never able to accompany him to his first few vet visits, so because of this he’s got some anxiety around vet visits. The staff at BM immediately began trying to earn Rocky’s trust by offering treats and pets. Gwen took us in the back to discuss any concerns and she also gave him a nail trim in what seemed like under 30 seconds! We met with Dr. Hollands for Rocky’s shots. She is a true professional. Before administering his shots, she spent a good 5 minutes working to earn Rocky’s trust with treats and kind words. Gwen was there to help when shots were administered and the whole time she was holding Rocky‘s head, stroking him, and showing so much compassion over all. This veterinarian practice is top of the line, feels like a family, and it is clear that they genuinely care about their furry patients. Very happy with my decision to establish Rocky here!

Bay mornings has taken care of several of our pets throughout the years. They have always made themselves available to assist in several emergency situations. They have also referred us to places when we needed additional assistance. We have always appreciated there guidance through difficult times. Thank you for everything! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for veterinarian services

You can definitely trust your pet care to Bay Moorings! My beagle was a patient for years until his passing, he would have been 17! They now see my two cats. One of my cats an emergency surgery at Blue Pearl, and Bay Moorings reached out multiple times to check in on him. Really great service!
