How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Do yourself a favor and NEVER go here. I brought my dog in because she was exhibiting every classic symptom of bloat. They took her back, did an X-ray, told me she had eaten too much food, gave her a pain med and anti nausea medication and said I could see my regular vet in a couple hours if I was still concerned. In a couple hours, my dog was dead. They are 100% responsible. Our dog had amazing insurance and I told them money was not a factor. We would literally spend anything and pay anything to keep this dog safe. So they were not limited in the treatment options that they could offer us. They were just lazy and negligent. If you know anything about bloat, you know time is of the essence. They wasted what little time we had and my poor girl paid the price.

My only big concern is your hours are wrong and it’s extremely misleading. Says you’re open 24hrs on Thursday and you’re not. Please update your hours immediately because my sister tried taking her dog to your emergency hospital and you’re closed. When in fact your hours state you’re open. It’s a waste of time when an animal is need of urgent care. I tried calling to speak to someone about this and again no one was there even though it says you’re open. This should be an easy fix.

We definitely were thanking God for bluepearl pet hospital and it's employees about a week ago ! We got a new puppy and when we got her, her stomach was massive and it was odd to us but we just assumed she had maybe just ate a bunch but then all she did was sleep and mope around. She didn't play like a normal puppy would. And then the day after we got her we assumed she was sleeping but picked her up to leave and she didn't wake up and we thought "maybe she's just sleeping hard" but just incase we nudged her with our fingers alittle and nothing. Then I panicked I started shaking her moving her all around and she wouldn't open her eyes or move at all she was completely limp !!! I thought she had died !!! But then my husband said hand her to me and checked to see if she was breathing and she was thank God BUT she was barely breathing! So immediately we googled 24 hour emergency vets and found a couple but chose bluepearl and I thank God we did ! They were so nice over the phone told me we could bring her in immediately and that they'd put me in so I'd be expected and not have any wait ! We rushed there and these people were so helpful so nice and quick to get us straight in and they took such good care of our babygirl and got her all fixed up, gave us medication (she had massive worms that were like 4 inches long inside her and abunch of them at that which come to find out wouldve killed her if we wouldnt of rushed her in) for her and some advice on what to feed her and how many times a day (which we didn't know a puppy was suppose to eat so much a day or that she needed soft food) and also let us know our puppy was NOT as old as we were told (6 weeks) she was only 4 weeks old. And I tell you when they gave her back to us she was wide eyed and already looked so much better and the next morning after we took her to bluepearl she was running all around was playful and happy and just a totally different puppy and so we will definitely be back if the need ever arises ! I highly recommend this place for anyone who truly loves there fur baby's, they will ttake such great care of your little fur babys as far as I have experienced ❤️ Our little girl is so happy now and healthy and always cuddled up with mommy (as pictured) 🥰 Thank you bluepearl for saving our little girls life 💖 Also only thing I'd say sucked was the price it was alittle high but when it's an emergency and it's your dogs life on the line I'd pay anything and plus I get they are a over night vet so you pay for the convenience of being able to get your dog in after a normal vet has closed. It was I think $175 off rip just to see her. They charged me that and for flea meds and worm meds and blood test and I believe that was it and it was around 350.00 I believe mabye alittle more. And i dont say this to post badly cause i dont think its bad its just the price and im just trying to give everyone as much info as i can. Id definitely go back because i thought they were great so please dont misunderstand me when i say the price was alittle high...

I had to take my sick cat to Blue Pearl, and I'm so thankful that they offer emergency after-hours service! Yes, the cost is a bit more than what I would pay at our regular vet, but they aren't exorbitant. The awesome vet, Dr. Robinson, gave me a couple of options of treatment for my cat. She listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I was able to bring my kitty back home, and he's doing so much better! The techs who I met, Joy and Brittney, were also wonderful! So kind and caring! Also, high fives to Sondalei (I hope I'm spelling that correctly) who is the sweetest receptionist/intake gal that I've ever met!

Last month I arrived with my Wheaton Terrier mix, Stetson, and unfortunately his condition required he be humanely euthanized. BluePearl saw us promptly and treated us with respect and dignity from the time we entered to his last breath. Thank you to the team - from the front staff, to the vet techs, to the vet herself - for helping Stetson cross over peacefully.
