How to Save Money at Concierge Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Do not go to this vet!!! They only want your money and not concerned about the well being of your pets. I have senior Maltese that limps and has some growths on his skin. They wanted senior labs. Fine. They lost his urine and took a blood sample but not blood for the heart guard test. He went back for X-rays to make sure his hip was fine before giving him arthritis medicine. Wouldn’t take his blood that day said I’d have to come back for blood draw for heart worm test. They never called me back for any of the results. I had to call them and they were short and rude. The arthritis medicine worked so called today to have it refilled. They want me to bring him in for……. You guessed it more bloodwork. He cannot make a 50 minute drive there and back each way since we’ve moved. They don’t care! Said it’s been since February so they won’t give it to him without a blood test. It’s been 8 months. Arthritis medicine!! Then she hung up on me cause I told her they were not concerned about pets just $$$$.

First and LAST visit. I took my kitten for her first appointment, agreed to all recommended tests and vaccines. The tech took her to the back for the examination which I didn't like but wanted to remain open minded. After the examination, the tech brought her back and said everything is fine and basically motioned me to leave. I said isn't the vet going to come in and talk to me? He said, if you have questions. I couldn't believe that the vet couldn't be bothered to come in and talk to me, after paying for their time. I also would like to know who is seeing my kitten! This is a new practice, you would think they would like to build a rapport with their new clients!

First of all is not the first time I visit this clinic with my frenchie. She’s a very delicate dog and they always treat her in the most gentle way possible. The staff is really attentive and answer all of my questions. Without a doubt I’ll keep bringing my dog . I know she is in good hands. Their service towards your pet and the owner alike is always 10/10 . Thank you 🙏

I am so thankful for Dr.Lopez and his wonderful staff. Since my first visit i have felt a sense of peace and hope. It has been really painful knowing that my fur baby has cancer but Dr.Lopez has made me feel like Teddy is in the best hands since day one and he really takes the time to explain things to me. I feel like i am with family when i bring him for an appointment and everything Dr. Lopez has done for us means the world to me. He is very knowledgeable and cares deeply for the pets and the pet owners. I highly recommend taking your fur babies to Concierge Veterinary Hospital!

My hedgehog Gracie is one of the most important things to me. When she started rapidly losing weight and started acting very off I didn’t know what to do. Then the clinic I bring my cat to recommended I go to Concierge for exotic care. They brought me in immediately, tested Gracie for what they could. They were very open and honest with me on what limited information they had, and what my options were. One of these options were providing me some supplements for her weight and medicine for a potential infection. It’s like night and day with how effectively they helped her out. I’m now positive that the problem was that she has somehow gotten a infection, because the moment I started her on the tube feeding Dr. Sinka recommended she started getting better. She’s eating again, drinking, running on her wheel. She’s starting to slowly but surely gain weight back. It’s everything I ever could’ve hoped for. To everyone at the clinic, and especially Dr. Sinka for helping us at such short notice, thank you. If you hadn’t offered me the options I had, I don’t want to think about the path Gracie was on. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I will absolutely be recommending this clinic to my friends with exotics❤️❤️
