How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Obviously having to visit an emergency vet is a super scary experience, and I felt so safe and taken care of here with my dog poppy!! They were so quick to assess us and I really trusted them with poppy’s care! They let me sit with her and hangout with her as much as I wanted and even said I could stay all night if I wanted to. I got to bring a bunch of her stuff from home to set up the kennel she was staying in. I got to take her on a walk outside the VEG office and felt super involved in her care. Poppy is doing so so much better now ❤️

Now as you can see this puppy was rescued by my husband about five weeks ago as you can see in the first pic she was very sick. Now the second pic is when we brought her here and first we were greeted explained the situation. Now beforehand I let them know we had no money to pay but I would get paid this coming Friday to pay off what was needed. Now they ran tests without letting us know the price or anything then gave her a shot and IV’s and mine you I told them we had no money correct. So they told us she had Parvo and that if we don’t surrender her she will die now this is the doctor with no compassion nothing not even willing to work with us at all. Now when I stated because I got attached to her that I wanted to think about it the doctor proceeded to state that either way she is gonna die basically making me feel like I was forced to make a decision right then and there. I was crying very upset and had to walk out where my husband had to be very firm with them explaining that we were not given a price and we should not be forced to surrender her at all because that’s what it felt like. That is when he called me and told me grab princess and let’s go back home. Now five weeks later in she is hyper loves to give kisses and eats well and is no longer sick and is so loved by us where I am glad I went with my gut. But I do need to say I will never ever recommend this place to anyone

Every single person that works here is amazing. I brought my fur baby in for something that wasn’t necessarily an emergency, but I didn’t want to wait for my usual vet to have availability. The care she received is top notch. Her doctor kept me updated and was completely transparent about pricing the entire time, and they examine/ treat her where she is most comfortable. Amazingly, the staff treats you just as well -even providing snacks and beverages while you wait. I don’t even mind paying a little extra because it’s a hospital. The quality of care she receives there is worth it.

I had an incredibly positive experience at this veterinary emergency center, and I wholeheartedly give it 5 stars. The staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism, efficiency, and speed in handling my pet's emergency situation. From the moment I arrived, I was met with a team that not only knew exactly what they were doing but also approached their work with great kindness and empathy. Stella, Millie, and Rebecca, in particular, stood out for their extraordinary dedication and support. Stella's calm demeanor and quick decision-making reassured me during a stressful time. Rebecca's expertise and efficiency were evident as she swiftly assessed and addressed my pet's needs. Millie's kindness and helpfulness were apparent in every interaction, making me feel genuinely cared for. The entire staff worked seamlessly together, creating a well-coordinated and supportive environment. I am immensely grateful for their expertise, professionalism, and compassion. Thanks to their efforts, my pet received the best care possible, and I left the center with a deep sense of gratitude and relief. I highly recommend this veterinary emergency center to anyone in need of urgent and exceptional pet care.

Went there tonight because I found a stray cat in very rough shape while walking my dog. Took her in and they confirmed that she was anemic, underweight, hypothermic, dehydrated etc. they were extremely compassionate and provided me the option of going down the path of full intervention or surrender where the vet would do what they could. Unfortunately I figured this cat was just trying to find a calm place to pass so I opted for the surrender, knowing they would help her be comfortable and pass in peace. Everyone there was fantastic but special should out to Stella and Brandi. The vet was great too but I’m blanking on her name. Thank you all for being so kind to that cat in her last moments.
