How to Save Money at AWS Animal Hospital - Animal Welfare Society of South Florida
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Saved my little girl’s life. My rat terrier had tumors with other medical problems, and Dr Soca was very knowledgeable, professional and detailed oriented. Honest prognosis. They are more than reasonable for an emergency. The office staff are very caring. Thank you for giving us a chance to have our fur baby with us for a little while longer. I live by County Line (next to Broward) and drive to AWS, they are worth the drive.

There are not enrolling with the welfare society,I bring my cat in twice she had a polypus on her ears they over charge me for a procedure like $3411.00 per a simple non invasive procedure.Of course I was looking for a second opinion then I found a very professional Hospital (VAC Hollywood Animal Hospital )in Hollywood They help my cat and schedule her surgery in the same week per only $817.00 now my cat is very happy. They have the best professional staff also the pet feel comfortable in that place as soon they arrive.Don’t take a first price look always for a second opinion.I’m personally hardly recommended VAC Hollywood animal Hospital and Doctor James Harrington he is the best!!!

I called here to find out an approximate price for the ACTH Stimulation test. My dog needs this test & I am of low income. A lady took the phone was a little snippy & told me she can’t give me any price without $55 consultation. I’m trying to save my dogs life, I already been to a vet, have recent blood work & stats on my dog. I have gotten many prices over the phone without a single bad attitude. She said price depends on weight, I told her weight, she says she still can’t tell me. I have no problem paying $55 once I know I can afford the rest my pet needs. Why would I waste anything that could be used to help my dog on a consultation just to find out a price I may not be able to afford?? If you really care about saving animals & improving their quality of life, please give me the approx price for ACTH stimulation test for 7 month old 12lb puppy. Thanks

If I could give zero stars I would but your only choice is 1-5. The place has changed. It is not the same. I was treated horribly. I was also refused my medical records. I have an audio recording of the conversations and I also informed them I was recording. The front desk refused to hand me my medical records that would have allowed me continuity of care for my puppies and as a result had to spend extra money out of pocket to pay for the same service (vaccines) that I could have avoided had I been given my property in a timely fashion. And my dogs had to experience and go through unnecessary treatment as a result of their AWS negligence in delivering my records in a timely fashion. It’s bad enough they couldn’t even treat my pets in a timely manner. I still have not received my records as I write this review. Do not - DO NOT bring your family members, your pets here !!!! I was treated so horribly and had such an awful experience here !!! Listen to the little voice in your head when it tells you to get out of that waiting room. Your intuition is on point - leave there as fast as you can I can not stress how bad the entire experience has been

I waited 6 hours to be seen. Aside from that everything was fine. The ladies at the front desk were easy to communicate with. It was obvious that the most mature women doesn't take attitude from anyone. So be nice. If you are going for a free spay or neuter its going to cost you some time. All emergencies have priority. Once, I was in the room the nurse Alberto made me feel as if I had just gotten there. He is very professional and engaging. He took good care of my cat and her newborn babies. The main nurse was a sweet lady as well and funny. Office visit costs 30 $ + 2 X-rays cost 100 dollars.
