How to Save Money at Miami Springs Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Best animal hospital ever! Jesus and the entire front desk staff is always super friendly and helpful at the front desk, Eldridge has always been super kind, friendly and gentle with all my dogs multiple times and he’s always amazing, goes into detail and explains all medications and procedures beforehand. Armando has also been a great help on multiple occasions. The entire staff here is great!

I can write a novel about how grateful I am with this hospital. Way back when our Jack Russell terrier Junior had gotten into a terrible accident and every other hospital said that there's no point, junior won't make it, this hospital said bring him in and it's because of this hospital that junior have us 8 more years until he recently passed last week. Heart broken and all they gave us the space we needed to say goodbye to our tough old man. We bring our other 2 dogs here as well and they are always taken care of with alot of love. The vet Armando is top tier, the best in the game without a doubt.

Miami Springs Hospital saved my dogs life. He bit a toad in our backyard and in less than 15 minutes began to have seizures and a horrible reaction to the poison. I called the hospital and they were about to close. They waited for us and saw my dog. If I would’ve taken him elsewhere that would be further away, there’s a good chance he would’ve died. I am incredibly thankful for this team and their care. Most importantly so is my daughter because they saved her brother.

I very much wish I could give 0 STARS, to whoever will reply to my message please don’t waste your time. I took my French bulldog here for a simple test that it was about $400 dollars to travel I knew everything about the process and everything that needed to be done, when I got there one of the doctors it was a woman I believe the one with short black hair and they convinced me that I needed a rabies vaccine in order for the results to come back positive, EVEN THOUGH HIS PRIOR RABIES VACCINE WAS ACTIVE FOR ANOTHER YEAR, I listened to them and when I came home my dog almost died he had an allergic reaction and I called them back and they had to hospitalize him, she said “these things happen all the time just like one day you can eat seafood and the next you can be allergic” you’re right but why recommend something he doesn’t need? I ended up paying $400 in total for just a rabies vaccine and hospitalization, I’m not mad ma’am because I know you did it with maliciousness because my dog felt that as the moment he interacted with you as he couldn’t stop barking at you while you were talking, I went to another vet in Coral Way and they said she gave him the wrong booster and he didn’t needed it, well Zeus is good and In Hawaii, I feel bad for the people that have come here and their pets have not made it. Don’t bring your animals here I understand things in Miami are harsh rn there’s no money but don’t take advantage of people and pets, they just cared about getting paid not about the health of the dog. If you read this and are looking up any veterinary to take your pet to go to Coral Way Animal Clinic, or Palmetto Animal Clinic. You have a blessed day!

I brought my cat in for a flea bath and rabies shot and ended up with my cat being declawed and given to me the same day they didn’t even want to watch her over night and monitor her health. My cat is a very scared baby she needs her claws to protect herself and feel safe now they took that away from her and just gave me an “oh well”.. never again coming here for anything
