How to Save Money at Elizabeth Chosa, DVM

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I saw Dr Chosa because I thought my guinea pig sow was pregnant and I needed to establish with an exotic vet. The is staff are wonderful. The pricing at this clinic is very reasonable. Dr Chosa is very personable. She is very up front about the issues had. I have 14 guinea pigs who now have a caring vet.

I've been taking my dogs to this Vet since 2012 and about two years ago things were good. In the last two years this Vet has become a corporation type Vet. Use to be a family oriented. Now corporate greed comes before doing the right thing for your pet. Case in point My French bulldog was operated on twice by this clinic for intestinal issues and was put on a intestinal food diet. I was able to get the food from them at a more expensive price than Chewy. Trying to order food through chewy they needed the Vet to ok the food for her. The clinic would not approve it unless I brought the dog in for the vet to do an evaluation. They did two surgeries on the dog there, should not have need an evaluation, it's all about charging for everything they do !! I understand nothing is free as I have my own business. I go out of my way for my customers to promote good faith! Whatever happened to the family veterinarian practice that put your pet's health ahead of profit!

Wow! This vet is AMAZING!! She took the time to get to know me. She is full of energy and you can tell how much she cares within a couple minutes of meeting her. She’s genuine. She is also extremely knowledgeable. Truly a gem. I feel lucky to be able to get time with her.

DON'T ENTRUST YOUR LOVED ONES WITH ELIZABETH CHOSA or COURTENAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!! she sent a nasty letter in the mail, refusing to service My family after 5yrs of loyal business, with courtenay animal hospital, because I left a 2 star review. Attached to the letter, and all medical records for the last 5yrs, was the 2 star review I wrote, as the reason why We are no longer allowed to be seen. Elizabeth lied in her owner response, claiming We were abusive, didnt respect, or trust her vet office, and made the executive decision to ban Us in the middle of a treatment plan, for Our Bunny's kidney stone. None of the notes, on any of the medical/account records she sent said anything about abusive behavior. And We never once said We didn't trust or respect the care given..quite the opposite, We remained loyal to Dr. Claire C, out of respect and trust for her treatment over 5yrs! What's worse, We never had a single conflict, nor any profoundly negative visit in all 5yrs. No one ever said anything like that once. The moment I left My review Elizabeth Chosa fabricated this story of these disrespectful people, who were well overdue for being banned. We liked and shared their Facebook page, thanked everyone for their help at the end of each visit, but somehow are disrespectful and abusive to Elizabeth Chosa, a person We never met once! In My review I mentioned not liking that after 5yrs of loyal business, no one upfront remembered Us besides Donna, or handed Us back Our debit cards, as things to be improved. I also mentioned how dehumanizing it is, to assume all customers are effected by covid, to the point of refusing entry to the business, even though We are in the reopening stages, and can easily wear masks. All feedback was provided to better customer engagement. Instead of trying to fix the bad, Elizibeth Chosa banned Us. Elizabeth Chosa is the most unprofessional person in ALL of brevard county, fabricating lies against those that know her weak points worth fixing. Elizabeth Chosa, you should have told Us if there was a problem, years ago. Now We're afraid you and your staff, may have been secretly taking out these hidden 5yr frustrations on Our baby! Being two faced with customers, instead of communicating with healthy dialogue is vile. It hurts to be scammed into believing Elizibeth Chosa ran a respectable vet office. RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS SNAKE! Otherwise you're next on her chopping block.
