How to Save Money at Atlantic Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Bruce and Yoli are amazing. My own vet of 14 years wouldn’t see my dog in an urgent matter for 2 days soonest. Atlantic Animal hospital took me in within 2 hours. I called coastal and ocean breeze as well to no avail They spent time with Ziggy and quickly diagnosed. Most can’t with a dachshund. Kudos to them today. Very caring and knowledgeable.

I just wanted to drop a note thanking Atlantic Animal Clinic for the immunization Saturday Clinic. They were professional & caring and most importantly, affordable! Staff expedited our visit and we left feeling that our Dachshund & elderly Shi Tzu were handled with care. Lisa at the helm was super, both cheerful and knowledgeable. Already recommended to my friends.

Dr. Bierbaum cleaned and polished my 2 dog's teeth today and I am so glad that I chose to come to this establishment. Very friendly people, too!

We have been using Atlantic Animal Clinic for over a year. We are a family of five smaller dogs. On 8/20/22 we added a new puppy, Miniature long haired Chihuahua to Our family. On Sept 23rd 2022 my wife took her to get her first shots. At the time they offered Us some kind of "special", First shots, spay and microchip. My wife was instructed to bring "Tia" in to be spay and microchipped on Tuesday 10/11/2022 at 9AM At 10AM we were called, the baby passed away during the procedure. After doing some research, this procedure should not be done Prior to at the minimum of 4 months old, they recommend 6-9 months especially in small breeds. ( Tia was born 6/20/22 ) ** Short of 4 months old. Why would someone who specializes in animal care not make sure the animal is old enough and strong enough to preform such of a procedure ? I'm not a Veterinarian, I never would have brought her in had I know it "could turn out like this" . What makes the whole thing even worst, Bruce didn't even act like he cared. Like it was just another animal he "lost on the table". The next day I sent my wife to get a few prescriptions that we will need for our other pets, he was there behind the counter and didn't even look over at my wife to say anything, Like "I'm So Sorry about what happened", Nothing ! My advice to Bruce, Retire. If you no longer Love animals enough to Double Check age records, Correct Dose of Medications, or Weigh. My God man, these animals people bring you and trust You with are a Huge Part of their Lives and Family ! I would advise everyone to Stay away from this place !!!

Would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely the worst experience we could ever have. There was no compassion outside of their administrator, who was very nice to her credit. If you love your animals, don’t take them here. Please.
