How to Save Money at Scott Mill Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They are best ! Took my puppy there after an emergency scare regarding blood in his stool and the doctor and staff were so honest and helpful! So happy to have found a new vet that is genuine and truly caring for his patients.

Had a great experience today for a new puppy appointment. Everyone was very kind and loving to my pup. The doc was very accommodating and answered all of my questions. The techs were all so nice and took the time to explain a lot of things. Pricing was also very reasonable. Overall wonderful experience and I’m excited to continuing the relationship with them long term.

TLDR: I have been a patient for 8 years with 4 different dogs experiences ranging from senior, new rescue puppy, Stranger Danger Reactivity, to end-of-life care with this team. I could not recommend this expert team enough! Friends and family travel all the way from Orlando to see Dr. Moore and the caring staff at Scott Mill Animal Hospital. ____ I have trusted Dr. Moore and the incredible staff at Scott Mill Animal Hospital for 8 years now. I cannot recommend them any more than to say I wouldn't trust anyone else with the level of care, concern, and immediate attention my 4 dogs have received from this team. From first becoming a patient with a 16 year old Schnauzer and seeing the dedication of staff to his health and comfort but also to calming my worry and concern was an experience I had never had before. Thanks to their incredible care and forethought he lived and passed with diginity at 19 1/2 years old!! They took time to answer all of my questions and never had me wonder if we were doing what was best for HIM and his quality of life. I will forever be grateful. (Side note to highlight the attention to detail and care this team provides because I am still blown away each time: When my schnauzer passed I asked to never have another visit in that specific treatment room due to my emotions. In the 5 years since his passing, never once have I been back into that room. Such a small detail to the scheduling staff but one that means the world to me I cannot believe they consistently maintain. I would bet my personal human doctor would never!!) Now, we are still a patient with 3 other dogs, one coming up on his own senior care plan plus a large girl with stranger danger issues and I can't rave enough! My female has caution with new people and the patience this staff has shown her during visits is unmatched. Never once have I been made to feel embarrassed or nervous that they were working on her time not the scheduled books and that is highly unusual in my previous experiences before Scott Mill. They work to positively engage with her so that very next visit is that much easier rather than a rough-handed approach I've heard other owners had at different practices. Everyone on the team is welcoming to both the human and 4-legged kids and after so many big moments together walking into the office for an appointment is like visiting friends, not a scary vet experience. In times of worry and general wellness visits, it doesn't get better than the team here at Scott Mill.

The staff at Scott Mill's animal hospital is so super sweet and caring. The doctor had really great suggestions on how to keep my itchy boys from suffering with their allergies after their prescribed meds were done. I really feel like my 2 dudes are set for the next year. Thank you so much guys!
