How to Save Money at Forever Vets Animal Hospital - Riverside
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was my second visit, to this location. While all of the staff was very friendly and professional, one was exceptional. Victoria greeted me with a warm smile and made check in a breeze. I wanted to bring an additional pet in for a future appointment but hit a snag. Our previous vet’s office said they were unable to locate our pet’s records. However, Victoria went above and beyond to make sure that our pet’s records were not only ‘located’ but sent to the Forever Vets office! This type of care and concern is so very rare. Victoria is definitely a valuable asset to this practice.

I have been a customer of Forever vets for over 5 years, we have a membership for each of our dogs. It covers so much more than our pet insurance did ... our pet insurance was a waste of money. This is by far a better option for us. Covers office visits annual shots a bonus teeth cleaning or spay and neuter. We recently had to put down our Mastiff Bullwinkle. The vet was so good with us .. we were a mess and just wanted to bring our baby home. But after talking and understanding what was wrong with him it was the best thing we could have done for him. They are so caring and understanding and not judgemental. They sent us flowers and a card. it was so sweet and touching they really do care. We already placed a deposit on a new Mastiff we are binging home in September and he will also be a part of the forever vet family.

my boyfriend and i came here recently to establish his cat as a patient. we showed up to our appointment at 3:10, so 20 minutes early. we were placed into a room at 3:15 and told that someone would be in shortly. 3:50 comes around, 20 minutes AFTER our appointment time, and nobody has so much as peeked their head in to acknowledge us. i go out and let them know that it had been 20 minutes since our appointment was scheduled to start and nobody has come in to greet us. i get the “we have a lot going on” answer. however, at the point where we were there, there was only one other patient in the building with us. come 4:00 the tech FINALLY shows up to ask us about our visit. they speak to us for 10 minutes, then take the cat to do some vaccines and run the routine exam. we sit there for an HOUR without seeing or hearing from anyone. during this hour, multiple other patients come in and also check out. at 5:00 the tech comes back out to say that our cat has a mass and they wanted to run a $300 test to see what it was. they give us no details as to the location or size of the mass, so we decline as we are wanting a second opinion. at 5:10, the actual vet FINALLY comes in for the first time and gives us a little more, incredibly vague detail about the cat’s mass. at 5:30 we get our cat back. and at 5:45 we are finally able to leave. we were in the building for nearly 3 hours, and our appointment ended over 2 hours after its scheduled start time. i have had cats for over 19 years, i have been to hundreds of vet appointments and have had multiple tests done on multiple cats in one appointment. NEVER have i ever had an appointment take 3 hours, and i have never ever had to sit waiting in an empty room for 1 hour with no idea what is going on with my pet. this entire experience was EXTREMELY unprofessional and my partner and i are both very disappointed with the service here. we paid for the wellness plan to have a cheaper first visit, but we will not be returning to this location.
