How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Here I am again. The harressment is terrible. Banfield Hospital is still giving us a rough time. They keep trying to contact me, saying we owe them money. Not acknowledging her death. They say someone local will contact me, but no one ever does. When she was struggling, we brought her there. Precious time was wasted as they brought her out to tell us they didn't have an x-ray machine to check her lungs. What hospital doesn't have an x-ray machine? It shouldn't be called a hospital if you don't have the machines to examine a pet on the verge of death. All you want is money, for what? Services not rendered? Are you kidding? I'm sick of the harressment. Why don't you stop???!!! That becomes bullying, stocking us. Yet we went into the local hospital, and they gave us a song and dance, "ohh it's not us. We can't contact Corporate. It's Corporate calling you. I called Corporate, the first time 1 hour, and 20 minutes, nobody picked up. 2nd time, 45 minutes waiting, somebody picked up, then hung up on me. What kind of organization is this? DO NOT GO , DO NOT !! They don't try to work with you. It's terrible while we grieve over a precious family member passing away. Is this a way to take advantage of grieving parents. Rest in Peace, Chanel. Even though Banfield won't let you rest in peace.

I have been to Banfield Pet Hospitals all over Florida, Colorado and several states in between and have NEVER experienced such an awful staff from front to back. The ineptitude of the front desk staff when we made our initial appointment (over the phone), showed up for and was told we didn’t have an appointment, they had no record of us, kept saying it must be a different location until the person I spoke to came out and confirmed that we were at the correct location. By then I was already upset. My dog had a huge hematoma in her ear and we were told over the phone when making the appointment that she could have surgery that day. Another strike. We needed to schedule for that weekend. They do the surgery to drain and stitch so it doesn’t come back. Fast forward to them ignoring our requests for compression to prevent flapping after they insisted on removing her bandages two days post-surgery. We had blood all over our apt and our vehicle while we rushed her there two days later for them to allow us to stand there while she was bleeding on their floors, we had to request something to clean it up, they took her back and kept her KENNELED for 8 hours and returned her back to us saying she was fine. Bloody. Couldn’t even bother to clean her face, neck, ear, head or wound. Just slapped a too tight, clipped wrong, cone on her and sent us on our way. A day later, her ear was so swollen, it looked just as it did before her surgery, only now with stitches imbedded. After a few more tries to get them to fix it, give us medications to help her (which they messed up also), I finally took her to another location where they told me the surgery was not done correctly, they drained her ear, removed her stitches, gave us all of the correct medication and took great care of our dog. I will absolutely be contacting corporate and demanding a refund for every cent that I spent at this “hospital”. They should not be allowed to care for pets.

I am not sure why i went back here, I guess location. I wont go back though. I arrived 15 minutes early for a 1030 appt. I was told to have a seat and they would check me in in a minute. At 1025, i asked the blonde girl drinking her latte (and chatting on the phone) if she could check me in as i had a 1030. She said i had to wait for someone else to check me in. At 1035 I went back up and a different girl grudgingly checked me in. And then i was seated again. No other people around. At 1045 someone else (not an emergency) shows up and the nurse assists him within 5 minutes. Finally at 1050 I asked the girl to let therm know this was a simple blood draw and i would need to leave for a meeting soon. Her response was "i told him already". I asked if he could be told again as i had not anticipated an hour for a simple blood draw for heartworm. She said 'i told him' I sat down and literally no one really appeared interested in the fact that i was not being helped and was still in the waiting area. I left at 1052.

I must admit that today's service was excellent! Great service this time! Not a happy dog owner! My dog had a scheduled appointment for surgery. I arrived 10 minutes before for my dog's 7am drop-off time. The staff was late arriving. After the staff member got situated, I was informed that my dog's appointment was scheduled for a new date. No one informed me of the new appointment, I had to take my dog home, and I was late for my workshop. Then I called to complain and I received an explanation of why the appointment was changed and an apology. Wow!!

My dog Scooby loves going to his vet visits, and we are always greeted with the best smile and warm welcome. The employees really love their job, and it's always a blast to know our baby is always in great hands.
