How to Save Money at The Village Veterinarian
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have a farm with just a few animals, maybe 16 total. I trust Dr. Henderson and his staff with the care of them. They are always prompt, kind, and I have never been disappointed. Love this facility 20+ years!

I would highly recommend finding a new Vet if you are local, or just visiting. A new owner recently purchased the clinic, and the quality of care has significantly decreased as a result. I have been bringing my two dogs here for the past 3 1/2 years, and unfortunately, we received extremely poor customer service during our last visit as a result of new management. (Read the owners response before reading the paragraph below) There was absolutely no bullying, or lawyer threats, as the owner mentions below, and both my wife and I were very friendly the entire time, I’m sure the receptionists would agree, as the owner kept us in the lobby for over 2 hours and never spoke to us directly. Here is full explanation of the events that transpired, for anyone that chooses to do a full review of the services they provide. I feel obligated to provide full context, since the owner’s response below is both false and provides incomplete and inadequate information. I booked my dogs for boarding in February 2023, at which time the price was $50 a night. After dropping my dogs off in September, 7 months after the booking, there was no communication of a price increase. When we showed up to pick our dogs up, the receptionist told us that there has been a price increase as we were checking out. Then after explaining that I booked 7 months ago under the old price, the receptionist apologized and informed me someone was supposed to inform me that the rate increased, and began to process my booking under the old rate. After I thought the issue was resolved, the receptionist told me she needed to speak with the manager. After waiting for 1.5 hours, the manager finally came out and told me I was going to pay the new rate, there was no conversation, nothing, just a quick comment, and that was that. “What’s the problem? You made the booking after the price increased, so you’ll pay the new rate.” I explained that I made the booking before the price increased and asked him to speak with the owner. After another 30 minutes, he returned and told me that regardless of when the booking was made, the owner refused to grandfather the original rate. The bottom line is we booked a rate, no one ever informed us of a rate increase until we come to pick the pups up. Also, I don’t care about the price increase, I care about the poor treatment; that is why we are finding a new vet. Overall the service we received was below average, and I would strongly suggest finding another vet, based on our experience. If anyone chooses to read this review I believe that it is apparent that we were treated poorly, and the fact that that owner chose to get involved in a petty squabble on this Google review, instead of calling me or reaching out directly, speaks volumes. This is bad customer service, period. I would have loved for you to speak directly to me, I had a reasonable justification to be bothered by the situation, and instead you told your manager to inform me that I would no longer receive services? I was offended and insulted to be treated so poorly. I had an amicable conversation with Michael, and the receptionist after they relayed the message you asked them to. There were no threats, only a disappointed customer, who would have appreciated the respect of a caring owner to be more empathetic.

Dr. Henderson and his team are truly the best of the BEST!! Beginning of the year, my pup had some complications after surgery. There was a period of time, I thought I might lose him. However, with the vigorous care and attentiveness of Henderson and his team, he pulled through. I will forever be grateful for care, love, and support from everyone at Village Vet. The extra measure they took, saved his life. I can’t thank them enough!! If you are seeking a knowledgeable, honest, attentive, and caring vet/team, take them to Village Vet!! :) You won’t be disappointed!

Dr. Henderson and their staff are amazing. My two dogs needed shots, etc and myv grommer( of 7 years) asked me to ask for some sedative because the boys can be rowdy. Dr Henderson gave them proper prescription, prescript ( in which I was to try out on them to make sure the dosage was correct. It worked perfectly. Thank you doc and staff for your friendly service!
