How to Save Money at Airport Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have a blind Pit Bull Rescue. She is special needs, and they make every accommodation they can, to give her the care she needs, while respecting her situation. I have been bringing all my special needs rescues to them, and I can not say enough about the staff, Cait, Gabi, and all that make the traumatic experience so easy! The Vets are ALL amazing, and the way they work with you , is truly above and beyond. I can’t say enough positive things about everyone there! I have never had a doc, or Vet, go so far above to take care of my baby, and ME, for that matter, bc I was stressed knowing my poor baby was. And they were right on time. AMAZING Thanks everyone, Dina and Roxi.

I took my service dog here for the first time yesterday and we were both extremely pleased with the levels of care and service. They were very short staffed this week, but we got in because of cancelations. Oliver had skin problems and allergies that needed to be checked before they got worse or infected. It was also time for yearly shots and check-up. When we got there, they already had his previous records. The office staff greeted us promptly and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We saw Dr Lyon, who happened to be the only vet this week, but I was very impressed. She and the tech both obviously care a great deal about the animals they care for. My favorite thing is that they do the check and shots in the room. He had me right there, so no issues caused by separation anxiety. It's fairly common in this area to take the animal to the back for everything, but that makes it very difficult to monitor and guage the care provided. Dr Lyon is very knowledgeable and thorough. She is also very friendly and easy to talk to. Oliver has had skin problems and allergies since I got him and we've tried almost everything with our previous vet. She gave us an older option to try. I don't expect a miracle, but I appreciate her thinking outside the box. I've heard great things about Airport Veterinary Clinic from several of their customers over the last few years. Someone who works there was at the emergency vet the same time we were and she also had great things to say. When our previous vet's office had no appts this week, I decided it was time to try them out even though it's much further away. I'm definitely glad I did. The care is worth the drive to Destin and I'll be taking my other fur babies here too.

Love this place! The entire staff takes such special care of every animal, is always so kind and responsive. On multiple occasions, they are able to get us in same day, provide clear communication and always call the next day to check in. They’ve taken fantastic care of our pup and we’d recommend them to everyone!

Chopper loves Dr. Lyon and everyone at Airport vet. The ladies at the front desk are so helpful and always make him feel welcomed and special. He actually enjoys his visits there and wants everyone to know that he feels safe and well taken care of after his appointments.
