How to Save Money at Polo Park Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Wonderful staff and quality care for my dog. There are cats in the waiting room so be prepared for them when you first walk in with your pet. They are normally just quietly sitting around, like cats often do, but wanted to mention it in case your pet will be on a leash and will get anxious around cats. Prices are reasonable and I never had to wait long once I got there.

I cannot tell you enough how much I love this clinic. We were referred to them when we moved to Clermont and they have always been exceptional to work with. Beverly (babe girl) just had her spay surgery there on Friday and everyone at that clinic was caring and understood how nervous we were about having to leave her while we went to work. They are also so good to Lizzie. It is the care, compassion, and Dr. Jones will take the time to answer all of your questions regardless of how big or small they are. The ladies at the desk are exceptional as well. We have not had a puppy in many many years and they were so good about getting us started with the proper food and shots, etc. This is a good southern hometown experience. You are NOT a number, you are NOT a credit card swipe here as they are local and not corporate! Yes, he is booked at times but I have never called there when they did not put me at ease with what was happening and offering a solution until they are available. We are SUPER particular with our dogs. They are our children. If you are looking for top notch veterinary care, look no further and call them today!

Dr. Jones is thorough and cares about my family. I lost my dog a few years ago, and Karen at the front desk, cried with me. That says a lot. Dr. Jones will show you what is going on in an X-ray and tell you what your choices are. Buddy and Simba will not take their medicine orally so the girls usually end up doing the hard part. Poor Buddy has to go in for a monthly allergy shot and he is not cooperative so the techs go to him even if he’s under a chair. Kim and Karen always squeeze him in. A big thank you for all you do.

Sadly disappointed over result of miscommunication with doctor, too bad staff was fantastic. We are new to the area. Thought our initial phone calls and the first visit was amazing. Office staff is delightful to work with, techs are great! At second visit front desk and tech were kind. Despite some initial confusion that created frustration for the staff and myself, I thought it was a simple misunderstanding that was no big deal. They were even kind enough to still get us in right away. I thought all was good but once we saw the doctor he was agitated. He check our dog and then made an accusation that was incorrect. It was very upsetting. I truly wish the doctor would have taken a minute and had a more professional approach to this situations. This could have easily been a 5star review and three new pets to their practice. But now I have no interest in taking my pets there. If the doctor can’t take the time to find out all details before jumping to conclusions, I’m not comfortable with his care of my pet.
