How to Save Money at Cocoa Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Place is amazing, staff that is understanding and care about the well-being of your pets. My doggie is quite the anxious one and they were able to work with us unlike previous vets. Great place!!! They were able to help her skin issues and now she’s happier, playing more, and even her fur is growing back!! First photo is a couple weeks ago, second is today.

I wanted to thank the entire staff for everything they did the last minute today to help me send my 13 year old Cavalier on his way to be with his brother in peace. The compassion and care you showed were impeccable. Thank you again from my heart!

Never before have I had a vet actually take interest in my pet, wanting to get to know them and treating them as if they were their own. Doctor Brennan and her techs opened my eyes as to what care my pets are missing when I take them to a vet. I never felt rushed at any point during my visit, and my Sachi is now receiving the care she needs and deserves. Thank you Doctor Brennan!

I went to this hospital because my 9 week old puppy got wet and drank mop water his name is Tobias. He was having a hypothermia attack and they rushed and took care of him. When they came back out they said that my dog had eaten marihuana and that was why he was poison 😐 😂 no one in my home smoke 😒 ..... How is that even possible???? Next thing they said was that he had to stay overnight for observation and that is was going to be over 1000 dollars that I didn't have on me. They made me sign a waiver to give my dog to the rescue shelter so they pay for his treatment 😔. Obviously I was desperate to save my dog's life and so I did because they wouldn't let me take MY DOG back home. One of the nurses in there called the next day and told me the dog made it and the doctor took him and he was going to be placed in a rescue shelter. To find him a home, my dog had a HOME now my 18 year old is going through a depression to the point that she tried to kill herself and she is now at a hospital hospitalized due to their inhumane actions. I called this morning and asked to pay for everything that the doctor supposedly paid and they said that is not possible because I signed a waiver signing my rights away I explained what was going ton at my house with my children and the person that answered the phone said that SHE UNDERSTANDS..... No she don't understand the pain athanasius they are putting my family through because of mone My dog was very cute dog and they wanted him that's what happened. what kind of place is this??? No humanity whatsoever 😢 DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY NOT THE PETS OR THE PEOPLE. They will make you sign papers to give your pet away if you don't have the money to pay and then put your pet in a rescue he knowing that rescue homes are full and can't take care of their own pets in the place but yet they want to take yours. Also they treated me with racism because I was Hispanic. I really hope that one day each one of them go through a desperate moment and find no light at the end of the tunnel because my kids are devastated crying for the the last 3 days since this happened and another one hospitalized because of this situation 😢 and they do not care about it.
