How to Save Money at IAC Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We brought our 19 year old Chihuahua named Stella in there who was really scared and in a lot of pain. The doctor was respectful of Stella and her state. After carefully examining her, we saw really bad inflammation in her mammary. Doctor Adams explained that this is most likely cancer, and if so is untreatable. However he said we should hold onto hope that maybe it's just a really bad infection. So he started her on some antibiotics, administered pain medication to help keep her comfortable, and said to keep watch over the next two days to see if the swelling goes down. He even offered and gave his prayers for her recovery. We felt more than satisfied with the service and cost was very reasonable. Low and behold a few days later and Stella is doing great! The swelling has gone down and she's back to her old spritely self again. We are so happy that Dr Adams said we could bring her by, and she received treatment from him, Stella's pretty happy too! Thank you Dr Adams and staff! We really appreciate you!!!

Doctor Adams is amazing! He took me in same day short notice. He was very caring and understanding. I had given my cat ear mite drops which worsened his infection and I was very distraught over being the reason my poor baby was suffering more, Dr. Adams was very comforting and kind. love the care he provided for my cat He is honest and reliable and wants the best care possible for your animal.

Last Saturday, we attempted to have our 10 yr old Morkie, TobyMac, seen by his regular vet in Dunedin, because he was very ill. They referred us to an emergency animal hospital just south of Gulf-to-Bay on Hwy 19. TobyMac was unable to eat or drink, had a fever and was very lethargic. After keeping TobyMac for over 6 hrs and over $1000 of tests, they misdiagnosed him with pneumonia and advised us to follow up with his regular vet. On Monday morning after TobyMac showed no improvement, we called our regular vet, who again refused to see our dog and said they would call back about arrangements to see him on Tuesday. We waited all day and they never called back. (They are located in Dunedin in the 300 block of Patricia) Thru an online search late Monday afternoon, thankfully we found Dr. Adams. When my husband called Dr. Adam's office and spoke with Nicole, she discerned the desperation in his voice and reassured him that we had called the right place. She then put Dr. Adams on the phone (How unusual that a new client can speak with the doctor on the initial contact.). When my husband described TobyMac's symptoms, Dr. Adams asked us to bring TobyMac in immediately. Within 5 minutes of examining TobyMac, Dr. Adams found the source of his issues, which was not pneumonia, but was actually infection of teeth and gums. He administered injections of B12, antibiotics and pain reliever, as well as gave him fluids to hydrate him. Wow! Within an hour of treatment by Dr. Adams, TobyMac was actually eating and drinking. On Tuesday, Dr. Adams extracted 4 teeth. Then on Wednesday, Dr. Adams called me personally to check on how TobyMac was doing! We feel that Dr. Adams saved our precious TobyMac's life. (TobyMac is the silver & white dog in this photo.) As you probably know, finding a good vet with good diagnostic skills who isn't out to finance his children's Ivy league education on the backs of each client, is not easy to do. Dr. Adams and his staff are a breath of fresh air. We felt the honesty and sincerity through the entire process. WE HAVE A NEW VET! YEAH!!!!

Absolutely delighted that Dr Adams helped my poorly dog today - he’s so so special to me and to many... and I was very concerned about him. Dr Adams was very good at explaining what needed to be done and why and not only that, his condition was handled rapidly as we didn’t need to wait for blood test results and he showed me all the out-points in his blood sample within 25 minutes. This was impressive. I’m so glad I bought him to Dr Adams. He was extremely kind and caring and I’m very grateful. Thank you!
