How to Save Money at DeSoto Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've tried a lot of vets since moving back into town, and thankfully have now settled at the clinic we used almost 23 years ago for our cats and beloved Golden Retriever, Ginger. What I found is that the current staff is every bit as kind as they were back then, and having tried many vets recently am glad that I'm back here. Prices are reasonable, and I can say that from a position of knowledge having been to at least four other vets - wish I came here first. And, they always try hard to work you in. I've had to use the emergency vet service when the time came for my 19 year old kitty, and they were super compassionate - I was a mess. Now I will be returning with my four kitties (3 youngins, 1- 14 yr old). Just called and going to get worked in tomorrow for a likely bladder infection on Whiskers, my 2 yr old male. What a nice receptionist, nice Dr's - you guys have got it right! Glad I'm back home - thanks for doing what you do!

My English Springer Spaniel, 15 years old, was ready to cross the rainbow bridge. I can't say enough about the compassion, kindness and respect for my loving, loyal friend and companion and us given by the staff during her last moments.

Wonderful as an emergency clinic and as my regular vet too - I’ve used them for both! Very reasonable when taking my kittens in for their shots and check-up, also for my little girl’s spaying. I can always get in there at a reasonable time, unlike some other offices where I WAS a regular client! Professional and kind office staff, clean and well-kept clinic. Highly recommended!

Caring staff and excellent dr. Very efficient and fast. Very little wait time Rocky was able to get an appointment within a couple of days for a follow-up. The hospital is open 24/7 and has access to his records regardless of the day or night in case of emergency. They are a joy to visit. Prices are reasonable, too.

I'm kind of torn right now. And what I actually think about this clinic. It did take them 2 visits to isolate the problem. And after the second visit where they diagnosed the issue, My puppy was being prepped for surgery Within that hour period. It was very serious and by taking a wait and see approach It was almost the end of my dog's life period. They found the problem by taking a simple xray. Even in a life-and-death situation, they want their money first. I give their bedside manner a C, Is the quality of work A. I do have another issue that came up with my pup again. I emailed the owner last night. Let's see how it gets handled. I will let this application know everything.
