How to Save Money at Companion Veterinary and Urgent Care Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place is amazing. All other emergency vet waits were 4.5-5 hours long. Companion got us in an operatory very quickly. My dog had bloody diarrhea and was throwing up yellow bile, and I was terrified. Their operatories are comfortable and pet/owner friendly. They triage, so your wait depends on severity of each case, which is completely understandable. They were kind to me and amazing with my dog who has been abused and is typically very skittish. You could tell she felt comfortable with the staff, and that's a rarity. The staff there is all wonderfully educated, kind, compassionate, and caring. You can tell that they really love what they do. Lily received excellent care- the vet sat down in the chair across from me and spoke to me one on one about my dog's condition and treatment plan. It didn't feel rushed. She spent time with us to make sure we understood everything we needed to know. Prices were as I expected for a veterinary office, but they also offer 3rd party payment plans with 0% interest if you qualify. You will know what the fees will be prior to them completing any services, so you have the opportunity to accept or decline any of the suggested treatment (although I went forward with everything). I did not feel like they were trying to upsell or give my dog anything that she didn't actually need. I will be leaving my vets office and establishing Lily here, as they also offer general veterinary services. I was beyond impressed with our experience here. As an emergency patient, we spent about 3 hours total there, but I wouldn't change anything about our experience. I know they were providing excellent care to animals who needed their attention in a more timely manner than mine. They have very flexible hours in order to accommodate emergencies. I will be recommending this veterinary office to all my friends and family with fur babies. Thank you all for a phenomenal experience in our time of need.

Incredibly kind and caring staff who helped us feel calm and supported during a very scary episode with our small dog. They took excellent care of our little one and were very nice and excellent at giving detailed information about everything happening during our visit. They also gave us a helpful printout with all our instructions for going home so that we didn’t forget anything from all the stress. I highly recommend.

I would leave 0 stars if I could. This place was convenient, 800 for some test, and didn't even give him anything for his inflamed intestines or any antibiotics. Knowing he was in bad shape. My dog is my life. He's been in our family since he was 2 months old. He was healthy, and out of nowhere, he got very ill. The wait was so long. We got to the place 5hrs b4 closing time. And then they wanted to send him to be treated at the 24 hr clinic since they were closing. Now, mind you, my dog only got tested here, and it was a waste of money. My dog is still ill bcz I don't have 7000 lying around for a 24 hr vet. We aren't paying a dime! Especially after being made, I felt like I was a bad pet parent by the vet bcz we didn't get him in right away!! I have to work and can't leave! There was no compassion or anything. Only money signs in the eyes of these people. Don't recommend this place... they will rip you off!!

We recently moved to the area and had not yet established a relationship with a veterinarian for our senior dog, Lizzy. When we noticed an unusual growth in Lizzy’s mouth, we brought her to Companion Veterinary and Urgent Care Center. Lizzy was seen right away and received wonderful care during her first visit, subsequent surgery, and follow-up appointment. The staff and veterinarians simply could not have been more compassionate or professional, and Lizzy has now recovered completely. We are so fortunate to have found Companion Veterinary and Urgent Care Center for Lizzy’s recent care, and are looking forward to returning for her ongoing healthy pet care visits.

I started here as an emergency & very quickly requested that my dog's records be transferred as a regular patient. Lola was an older pet with some health issues, this staff was always so caring! Even if we were just in for a regular service, Lola would walk right in on her own! Lola loved the staff & I think she knew she was in good hands. Eventually Lola passed & I couldn't imagine having a more supportive group of people to get me through that very painful day as well as the time following. When Gia came along It was not a second thought who I would choose to provide her care. I only want the best for my pets and in my opinion I have found that.
