How to Save Money at Animal Medical Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My husband and I cannot say enough about Dr. Russell and his AMAZING staff! We have been through a lot together and we wouldn’t want to take our doggies anywhere else! Dr. Russell is not just a phenomenal Doctor! He takes the time out to explain things in layman’s terms and has incredible compassion. We would recommend Animal Medical Clinic to anyone with pets! From a simple vaccine to surgery and end of life care. We just love them!

Dr Russell and his staff are amazing!! We are new to the area and have been struggling to find a local vet that we feel we can fully trust. Yesterday my daughter and I brought our cat Ollie in to be looked at, because he was having issues with his left eye, excessive drooling, and not eating or drinking. From the moment Dr. Russell came into the exam room he showed exceptional bedside mannerisms. He is personable, kind, compassionate, and truly loves animals and his staff. He thoroughly looked over Ollie and knew immediately what was wrong with him and then informatively explained to us how and why he came to his conclusion. He performed a few in-house medication treatments to allow Ollie to begin healing asap, which was very much appreciated, because he was in such a miserable state. I'm grateful for Dr. Russell going above and beyond, although I believe these are just his standards, which is why I'll be recommending his practice to all! Another valuable mention is that his office has a warm and welcoming aura to it. When we arrived, there were 3 other clients up front, one waiting to speak with the doctor, one purchasing products, and one waiting to check out - all were extremely friendly and happy, with happy pets - this spoke volumes to me, as it shows the love and satisfaction of their relationship with this practice!! I feel so blessed to have found Dr. Russell and his practice and look forward to being a loyal client of his!

Animal Medical Clinic is by far the best veterinary practice I’ve ever dealt with - and I’ve dealt with many in my roughly 40 years of having dogs or cats or both. Dr. Russell is fantastic! He’s knowledgeable, friendly and professional, clearly cares about his patients, offers treatment options and alternatives and explains all the whys, hows, whats, and whens. His technicians and office staff are so helpful, efficient, supportive and caring. It’s truly a pleasure to deal with such a competent, helpful, and happy team!

Excellent Vet! I have lived here for over 20 years and been been to most of the practices near by and all the way to Hastings. This office is wonderful, and takes really good care of your pets. I found this office after a rattle snake bite and feel we finally have found a place to entrust our dogs care. Stop looking and check this place out. No need to wait for two decades.

Dr Russell and his team are awesome! I have been taking my fur babies there for many years and no Vet is better. Would not trust any other surgeon with my babies! Thank you AMC for being the BEST!
