How to Save Money at Beste David DVM
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very good Vet. Have ALWAYS taken our pets there. Sometimes a little crowded but, that's expected at places that offer good, quality services. Our 5 year old Great Dane and our newest addition, our 4 month old Goldendoodle.

Poor little kitten had a skin infection. She had a spa day at Middletown Vet. Got shaved and bathed and feeling so much better. Meds to apply. Already feeling like her litter mates. Her shave looks like a Lion cut. 😍

Called at 2pm Saturday March 16 and a guy answered. I called to order my Rottweilers Bravecto. He took it upon himself to tell me no and also went to ask a veterinarian who is NOT Gunners!! He talked that vet into saying no. Dr Beste is Gunners vet and ONLY DR BESTE. He approved his Bravecto months ago. I have no car and in bad health. I have no way to get 150lb rottie 45 minutes away!! He had no right telling me no and talking the vet into it. I've NEVER EVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL TODAY AND I'M VERY UPSET. I've belonged to Middletown vet for over 20 years!! NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS GUY! Since when did the tech become his dr and his to make decisions??!! This is a flea prevention! IT IS NOT LIKE I'M ASKING FOR ANY OTHER MEDICATIONS!!! Thank you for upsetting me. 😡 Since when do any techs or whoever he was make decisions!?!? Dr Beste has ALWAYS BEEN SO KIND AND VERY UNDERSTANDING!! I NEVER EVER WANT ANOTHER Dr making any decisions for my pets. DR beste is their vet! Let alone someone who answers the phone!! Dr Beste is the ONLY one to make my pets decisions period!! Over 10 years I've taken every single pet! 2 dachshunds, 4 labs, a shitzu and many more! Including a chinchilla! All Dr Bestes! I am highly upset and very angry that they'd allow my rottweiler to get fleas!!! He gets hot spots very easily! If this happens because of that guy who answered the phone I'll be looking for a new vet.

They made time to take my pup on short notice - he had a scratched eye and ear infection and they were fantastic with him! The vet and assistant were so gentle and loving with him throughout the exam. I highly recommend Middletown Vetenary Hospital!

Some new doctors/veterinarians. The staff is normally very pleasant! However, recently had one young lady who was not pleasant on the phone. Apparently my socioeconomic status was not high enough for her to patient or understanding. At the appointment the staff was very friendly; however, $800 later and they still can't tell me what is wrong with the dog. The doctors/veterinarians who have been there the longest are my favorites!!!! they are very patient, understanding, and discuss the options. The newer veterinarians don't explain the costs or options as well and seem surprised that people don't have bottomless pockets.
