How to Save Money at Winslow Park Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It’s disheartening to be writing this review as I had taken our beloved dog here since she was a puppy. This office does not deserve the 4.9-5 star reviews in which it has. After a missed and very late diagnosis of leptospirosis on my dog (which has a vaccine to prevent illness that was never offered), and then having to put her down after days spent in the ICU due to kidney failure- I have yet to have even received a letter from this facility to say they were sorry. Our hearts have been absolutely shattered, but the lack of compassion from this office is more than unacceptable. They may have been informed late that she passed but 3 MONTHS went by and no one had called to check in on her or us after our time in the ER- and they were notified that she got admitted to the ICU. Not to mention I was advocating for my pet for 6 weeks prior to her diagnosis explaining something was not right, something was wrong with her and felt I was not listened to and not taken seriously. I had to eventually tell the facility I wanted lepto testing as I kept being brushed off because it is such a rare diagnosis to get- only to get a call saying “I was right, she has lepto”. During one of her last visits the doctor even said “I’m really glad you have pet insurance” which only made me feel like something must be seriously wrong prior to her getting her official diagnosis. I can’t help but relate this to patient care, and make a point that if this was a human the doctor/facility would not stand a chance. As a healthcare provider myself I also can’t help but advocate for my pet who is now no longer with me. In school when you get your degree you learn to RULE OUT the rare diseases, the rare cases and things you should NEVER miss. This was not the case for us and our family dog. I hope this is a huge learning lesson for all involved and that proper care is provided, vaccination is offered and given and that the pet parents are listened to. That is your job just as much as helping take care of our pets. We put our trust in you, but in our case that trust was broken. I’ve spent this time teaching my children about death, how our dog of only 7 years will never be returning to our home and dealing with the heartbreaking loss of our Mila who deserves to still be here. I hope this facility learns to do better for pets in the future and wish everyone luck who currently comes here.

Dr. Santisi is knowledgeable, caring, spends time listening and answering all questions and is never rushed. He also performs dentals which is a plus. Appointments are not difficult to schedule, and there is very little wait time on the appointment day. The staff is very positive and skilled, and they respond to calls or texts quickly. I would strongly recommend Dr. Santisi and Winslow Park Animal Hospital.

We have been brining our 3 dogs to Winslow Park Animal hospital since we got our first dog. They have always been very personable, attentive and helpful. They saved the life of our dachshund Skittles and years later when he died from old age they sent us a thoughtful card with condolence notes from each staff member. They even purchased a tree in our dog's name! It meant a lot to us at a difficult time. We highly recommend Winslow Park Animal Hospital.

It was my first time at Winslow and I was super happy with the care my pet received. I was able to get an appointment for the next day, as a new patient. The staff was great and made my pup very comfortable- they answered any questions I had, they were thorough and made sure my pup was all up to date on her shots as well. Overall, I am so happy I chose to come here and feel that me and my dog are in great hands.
