How to Save Money at Central Hospital For Veterinary Medicine
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
If I could rate this place a 0 I very well would. I have brought my dog here so many times in the past couple weeks, this last time he sliced his paw pad in half and 2 DAYS after they put his “cast” on his entire foot slipped out of it…and they’re trying to say it’s because my dog is high energy. My dog is on MULTIPLE calming meds that YOU’VE PRESCRIBED AND WE HAVE DECIDED TOGETHER WITH HIS PRIMARY VET AND YOU THAT IT WORKS and is currently very calm, and there is ZERO reason that he should have been able to wiggle his entire foot out of the cast. I am absolutely disgusted with this vet hospital and will never and I mean never go back. They’re trying to charge us an extra $1,000 to Re-bandage his foot after not even 48 hours of having it. I’m not sure how they can say they care about peoples pets if they can continuously charge people for their own mistakes. And please take the time to respond to me with your disgusting words. If you decided to have kinder answers to multiple terrible reviews maybe your place would seem a bit better but quite honestly it sucks and you should probably do better. Instead of blaming owners, how about you take a look at yourselves, because it’s disgusting how rude you can be to owners. Here’s a picture for your records of my dog with his cone and donut on that you swear he took off so you wouldn’t have to take fault for your own mistake. Just a response to my lovely answer about bridges being burned, wanted to let everyone know I sat on hold with you for over 20 minutes when I was explaining to the vet tech that I couldn’t not afford another $1,000 bill, and she told me “she knows how my dog is” and that “I can wait until Monday for my dog to go to his vet so it will be cheaper” there was no actual help and it was putting it off for my vet to deal with instead of actually helping me due to him being under they’re care. No one was asking for anything to be free, but even an offer to rebandage it to hold it off until Monday so that MY DOG was safe for the weekend, could have been something. I’m glad our bridges are burned if this is how you’re going to treat my dog after being under your care. Until tonight I have recommended you to many people and swore by this hospital only. But you could not accommodate to me in a time of need, and then want to contradict that in a response that I cannot even reply to.

I was very pleased with the services I received from Central, especially the fact that I was distraught of my dog's severe condition. They were personable and took care of my girl promptly, and they returned with the medical options for her. Due to the toxicity in her system she had to remain in the hospital at first for 48 hours observation. Prayerfully, my girl made a great recovery and was able to come home the next day. I was so happy! Thank you, Central staff for your help and your professionalism. My girl is doing great!

Central has cared for my dogs for the past year for emergencies and cancer treatment. The entire team is wonderful. The vets are clearly incredibly skilled, and the nurses and reception staff always take as much time as necessary to explain every detail to us. I brought my one pup in after a mauling and everyone was so kind to me in my distraught state, and looked after my dog incredibly well through his multiple surgeries (even though he’s a very difficult chihuahua!). This morning we also had to say goodbye to our other sweet dog who had been fighting cancer after an amputation. Everyone was so compassionate and sensitive. I’ve always felt confident that everyone at Central would be gentle and skilled in looking after our boys when they were at their most vulnerable. Thank you, Central Vet!

Incredible staff. Attentive, kind, and excellent customer service. I’ve never felt so at ease in an emergency vet situation. The front desk staff provided exceptional customer service (even on a busy, crowded Sunday) and the vets clearly love each and every animal admitted. While ER vet care can be costly, I never once felt taken advantage of. Vets and vet techs were transparent with providing cost analysis ahead of time, and didn’t “upcharge” for unnecessary tests or procedures. If I could make these doctors my primary, I would. I can’t thank Central enough for all they did for my cat, I would recommend them to any and every pet owner within driving distance! Thank you!

I called in at 10:00 tonight regarding my Shiba’s short, heavy breathing and his overall behavior being off. Michele answered my call immediately, told me they will be waiting for my arrival. The front desk staff were so pleasant and personable. My dog was seen nearly the minute I walked through the doors. Amanda, the doctor was incredible and actually listened to my concerns and gave me real answers. Overall, I spent about 2 hours there given what needed to be done to my dog which is super reasonable for an emergency vet. My baby came back to me totally back to normal and happy. I cannot say enough good things about this hospital and everyone that was working tonight. Thank you! ❤️
