How to Save Money at VCA Cheshire Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I’ve brought 2 of my cats here and I would never bring another animal here. I brought my cat in for what I thought was an allergic reaction to her food. There was only one other person with a dog in the office, and it was close to midnight, so I’m sure they did not have enough staffing, but my whole experience was awful and rushed. They ran every test they could on my cat, and then came in to tell us she was in keto acidosis and diabetic. The vet pressured us to make a decision between hospitalizing my cat for a minimum of 2 weeks, starting at $5k or simply put, they could euthanize her. They couldn’t care less about mine and my husbands feelings and didn’t give us time to process anything they said. What a horrible feeling. In response to the company: there is no mistake. This is the animal hospital we used. The hours must’ve changed since using the services here because I left around midnight after checking paperwork saying we were admitted at 9:30pm, I am 100% certain this is where we brought our cat and have receipts for her cremation and urn as well. Thanks for your response though.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this vet clinic! A special shout out to Dr Matz who is truly the best vet in the world! The level of care, compassion, and reason she applies to every thorough detail is impressive and it shows as she is always so far booked out. The front staff is always so kind and work to resolve your issue as soon as possible. Highly recommend this clinic!

I hated this place from the word Go. But my vet closed her practice after COVID! I wasn’t going to even waste my time with a Review - but when I started an application process to adopt a new fur baby… they required a vet check. And I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY GAVE ME A POOR REFERENCE!! There were no words I could tell you that could describe how I felt. To not only be a sub-par vet clinic but to make it so I could not give a loving home to a baby in need! I am Disgusted, Disappointed and Disheartened!!!!

I love it here! The office always does their very best to get me in as quickly as possible when I think there's something wrong with my dog. The doctors are very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate! I use the Care Plan and can bring my Chihuahua in as many times I need with no extra charge.....including nail trimming! I really love Cheshire Vet.

There are not words for how much I appreciate the genuine care and concern Dr Matz provides. She supported me through a devastating cancer diagnosis of my favorite pet (ever). She absolutely went the extra mile exploring all options, sharing her perspective and supporting us through an incredibly difficult time. We put our guy to sleep last night at an overnight emergency vet and I heard from Dr Matz first thing this morning to discuss, and ultimately make me feel confident in our decision. Because pets cannot speak, having a vet who is caring and knowledgeable is absolutely critical in order to make decisions comfortably and confidently. I would absolutely recommend Dr Matz to anyone looking for an ally in caring for their pet.
