How to Save Money at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists, A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I would make the trip through a snowstorm again if emergency care was needed as Dr. Gould and team were absolutely wonderful and very compassionate during urgent treatment of my cat. They were able to get her in right away, and we felt very welcomed. They were receptive to discussing treatment options and possible next steps. Everything was thoroughly explained, resources provided, and felt like all staff genuinely care about an animals well-being. Thank you all for being a truly wonderful veterinary clinic!

Dr. Hazenfield and the entire staff took outstanding care of Lexi. She had both her ACLs done-two years apart. I was worried, being a pretty major surgery. The recovery was 10-12 weeks, where she was running around like a pup. It was so worth it. Thank you Dr. Hazenfield and to all the Royal Vista staff. You guys are some kind of awesome! And Lexi is very grateful, too.

The doctors, technicians and staff here are all wonderful. I am from out of state and was in Colorado for thanksgiving when my dog got very sick and needed to be rushed to a vet. The staff was very responsive, the technicians kept check in with me to give me updates and the doctors were also communicating with me frequently. I was a mess and didn’t know what to do. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful and truly cared for my dog’s wellbeing.

After having a very bad experience at another emergency veterinarian, I came here even though it was a longer drive. My dog was experiencing the same issue that caused the first trip to the other vet, but I decided to make the longer drive because I felt as though the other place had tried to milk as much out of me as they could and I was worried I wouldn't be able to afford the care my dog needed this time around. I was surprised just how different the experiences were. Royal Vista's staff was very competent and compassionate and while they did most of the same care as the first vet, the bill was almost half what I had been charged at the other place. Beyond that though, it was very comforting and easy to trust that my dog was getting good care since they didn't act like a shady car dealer. I will definitely be returning here if I am ever again in need of an emergency vet.

I’m kicking myself for not finding them sooner. The front desk staff is the BEST I’ve seen. We came here for an emergency ultrasound. From the very beginning, the staff was SO kind, informative, and professional. I never got the name of the guy that answered my initial call, but he was wonderful and I had instant relief. When I was waiting in the lobby a very rude customer came in and basically harassed a wonderful woman named Karlene. She handled the situation with AMAZING patience, professionalism, and kindness. I knew right then I was in a good spot for my pup. Alyssa was also above and beyond. She was very sweet, funny, and kept me company as I waited anxiously for my pup to be done. The vet tech Kevin, made me feel extremely comfortable and confident my pup was in good hands. I was finally able to take a deeeeeeeep breath. We have been dealing with an emergency situation this week and I felt so relieved being here. Highly recommend. Whoever hires staff here, good work. Keep it up ❤️
