How to Save Money at CityVet | Westminster + Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had an amazing experience at CityVet. My puppy, Hazel, had gotten sick and was unfortunately diagnosed with Leukimeia. Both the doctors and the staff were incredibly helpful and supportive during this difficult time. Dr. Hardin especially took the time to answer all my questions and check in. Thanks to everyone, I felt prepared. They made sure she received all the proper care. Unfortunately, we ended up losing her eventually and while my family and I were processing her loss, we received a very sweet condolences card from everyone. This was a very hard time for us and CityVet made this whole situation so much easier. I felt like my dog was taken care of in the best way. Their compassion made my family and my pet feel cared for. I will forever recommend CityVet!

I’ve had pets my entire life, now almost 60. This is THE BEST veteran I have ever been to. Prices are very reasonable. Two emergencies and we were seen immediately. Never a wait and the staff is always super sweet, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend this office!!!! Thanks 🙏🏻

Great first visit to this office. Took our new kittie in for vaccines and exam. Dr Hardin was great and super sweet to our new kitten. After today’s visit this will be our new go to Vet office. Everyone was super friendly and we love the location. 5 stars!

Very happy with the vet (Dr. Hardin), vet techs and office staff. In the past, my cat (Ivy) has not had good experiences going to the vet. She is very anxious with vet appointments. Usually because of barking dogs, not being handled correctly, waiting a long time in the waiting room, etc. I expressed these concerns to the office staff when making the appointment. The office staff and vet/vet techs were more than understanding and accommodating to make my cat feel comfortable and make the appointment go well. They did not rush the appointment and were excellent at helping keep her calm and taking their time to make her feel settled. They took the time to answer any questions I had plus gave ideas on how to keep her calm for future visits - none of the other vets had ever done this in the last eight years. They kept her separated from the dog area and were very good at making sure she had a successful visit. I can tell they have good experience with cats and how to handle them properly.

I cannot thank all of the staff at City Vet Westminster enough for their awesome customer service and care! I have had fur babies my whole life and will honestly say this was the BEST care I have ever received! From the appt scheduler to the front desk check in to the vet techs to the actual veterinarian himself; this was the most amazing experience ever! I HIGHLY recommend City Vet Westminster to anyone seeking great care! It’s not “cheap”” by all means but well worth the cost! 5 Star Care!
