How to Save Money at Twin Peaks Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

There is not enough I could say about this place. I thought I loved my last vet but these guys are beyond measure. My dog started vomiting on a Saturday. That can happen but this wasn’t normal run of the mill tummy issues. I called my regular vet to get him in and they were booked. I started calling around everywhere, no openings. Same thing when I called Twin Peaks but they took the extra step. They said, let me run it by my team. Bring him in. We’ll check him between appointments. We got him in and he was in surgery within an hour. He had a super rare condition where his colon had flipped and he would have died within hours if he hadn’t been seen. The vet told me when she got our call that she knew she had to see him. They were closed on Sunday but I still got a text from her checking in on him. It brings tears to my eyes the kindness, compassion and dedication this entire team shows everyday. Their follow up has been amazing and his after care has been superb. We signed up for their health care program and it’s already saved us hundreds. I’ve told everyone about them since they saved our boy. Thank you! You are so appreciated!

Our puppy (and us) all love the staff at Twin Peaks! We've been bringing Apollo since his first vet visit and he always loves going in. Why wouldn't he, they always shower him with lots of love when we bring him in. The staff are kind, attentive and communicate so well with us. Even when we had a recent emergency they were able to see Apollo the same day and get him taken care of. Their facilities are always super clean, they have dog treats and most importantly they take good care of your fur babies. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet. The young ladies at the front of the house are the best. Check in and check out are always a breeze and they make you feel like you're the most important client there. Thank you to all the staff for always taking such good care of our furry family member. He loves you guys!

Absolutely wonderful clinic! They explain what they're doing, why it's necessary, and explain all of my options to get specific consent before proceeding. They tell me the costs of everything in as much detail as possible, and they will even explain why certain procedures or products cost what they do upon request! The health plans are automatically worth it if you plan to bring your pet in for all preventative care needs. They help me to understand the needs of my pet by explaining at-home preventative care and even different feeding methods to keep their weight in check! This helps to save me money by preventing health issues in the future! Everyone here is a wealth of knowledge but they're very friendly and share what they know! The receptionists make sure to try to keep my pets with the same doctor that already knows them, and if they're unsure about anything at all, they immediately seek out an answer from a doctor or technician so they can be completely confident in what they tell me. And that's not to mention just the obvious love the staff all clearly have for all animals. I bring my pets in and they are instantly showered with love. You would think after working (and struggling) with various animals all day they might get tired of it, or at LEAST get USED to it. But no! Every single little fur baby is absolutely precious in their eyes and they all get special care to the best of the clinic's abilities. I trust them. 5 stars. 😁😁

I just want to say you guys could have done so much more for Bailey in the almost year I cried to you guys to help her and now she's gone... she never should have suffered this long. YOU PEOPLE as professionals were supposed to do everything you could to help her and you didn't, you failed her, you didn't do a biopsy during surgery or any other time before or after which would have told you that she had cancer! And all the medications and steroids you were having me feed her were doing nothing! Not only did nothing help her but continuously aspirating a sarcoma only makes it worse and more painful! I have fought so hard for my dog and you guys did not do your job. I understand the outcome for her wasn't good now knowing what her diagnosis is but that is NO EXCUSE for the poor decision made on your office and staffs behalf!! My 3 year old lab had to be put to sleep today!
