How to Save Money at Golden Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The front desk here is absolutely terrible. I’ve tried getting vet records sent over to my new vet for a few days now and they still have yet to do so. I had to call and demand they get them sent over or I will come get her records myself and that seemed to be the only thing that worked. Used to be a great vet but this last year my experiences have been nothing but terrible. If you want someone to actually care about your animals well being, it will not be this vet and I recommend you continue looking.

Forest our dog of 12 years was put down today with the love and care from the staff. My wife and I felt comfortable with this difficult decision. The staff did a great job of helping us cope with this situation. They even mail us the bill so that we can separate out the experience from the expense. Very kind service and good folks. Highly recommend them to our community.

I have taken all three of my pets to this Hospital in the past. Recently my cat was in pain and I called to see if they could find a way to squeeze him in and the staff was unconcerned and rude. They said they could only get him in nearly a week later. I scheduled the appointment for that following week and I could tell my cat had gotten increasingly more uncomfortable. In the morning he was very difficult to catch and it made me just under 30 minutes late to my appointment. I showed up to the vet clinic and there was no one in the waiting room and no one in the parking lot. See the pictures. No one else is here. However, the vet still refused to take my pet in even though he was in pain. I will never be coming back to this vet. The front desk lady was extremely dismissive and rude and they could care less if my animal was in pain.

Quoted me a price for test, then they charged me a different amount after. Talked to accounting which was very nice, but were not able to change the amount to what I was quoted. I would not have done the test if I was quoted what they charged me. The manager discounted it, but not by much. Why would I do a test unless I agreed on the amount I was told??? Like what the heck? Also Devon I think was her name was very nice, but when we went back we had a lady named Natasha or something I can't remember it was something like that I'll update it when i remember that could be right and she said literally the opposite of everything we were told the week before. She was rude and didn't seem to know anything about our breed of dog. Devon knew exactly what our breeder had suggested we do and everything lined up and even with her next shots. The other lady said we only needed one more round of shots and that's not what our breeder or Devon said she would need 2 more rounds. Just really upset and don't trust them. I've been going there and my family for over 30 years. Some vet techs are just in it for the money and don't know anything. Thanks Devon for being a great experience, even though we were not charged the amount we agreed to.
