How to Save Money at Park Animal Hospital and Wellness Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have taken several pets here for the last few years. Dr. Christina Spears is The Best, always listening and being an advocate for the best interest of the animals. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and they all worked Really Hard during the pandemic shut-down to make sure pets were seen. I can always get an urgent appointment if necessary. I highly recommend Park Animal Hospital and Wellness Center.

*CAUTION before bringing in your pet* Writing this review so people have an understanding of what happened to my dog here. First I will say this place does have great vets on occasion, however they move on. That being said I found Dr Justin Daughtry who was here for a while. He now works at VCA deer creek and is opening a new practice soon in DTC. He’s incredible, also doesn’t advocate procedures your pet doesn’t need. Please go see him!! I just took my 11.5 year old golden to see Dr. Rice. She had acute onset diarrhea with blood after eating something small in the elevator. After a quick physical and expecting to get on antibiotics this Dr. told me that her professor (she graduated in May) told her not to use metronizadole (antibiotic to treat diarrhea) due to antibiotic resistance. She then proceeded to tell me due to weight loss and pale gums (both of which another vet explained were due to dehydration) “she felt my dogs diarrhea was due to underlying cancer.” This was without any diagnostics. I was supposed to be leaving the next day to go to a young family members funeral and explained I needed to treat the diarrhea and financially needed to take this one step at a time and could not afford x rays and would only be open for bloodwork and fluids prior to leaving as long as we got antibiotics. She refused to treat and said she was doing what was best for my dog lily. Cut to me going elsewhere, getting Lily antibiotics, within one hour her diarrhea stopped completely. She’s since gone through bloodwork, full exams, her gums are normal color she’s gained 5 lbs after the diarrhea incident and she’s normal without cancer. It is okay to mention that with golden’s we worry about cancer so to check in on that later, however it is grossly negligent to tell me “she felt sudden onset diarrhea was due to underlying cancer” without diagnostics. Proceed with caution before seeing Dr Rice. I am severely questioning this office as well. The last time I brought my husky in after running endocrine testing for possible cushings Dr. Korpics mentioned via phone while going over results that we needed to run more tests because her condition could be due to cancer. I ran animal and human lab diagnostic testing for almost a decade and work in healthcare. I then at that time asked that another vet follow up with me in their office who said in no way would we suspect cancer with my husky (that dr is no longer at this practice, surprise). It seems very evident that the doctors in this office are pushing billable procedures and clearly using cancer to do so which is unethical. Now maybe this was just for my pets and I was an anomaly however I will no longer be seeing this office. I love my pets too much to subject them to unnecessary poking and prodding due to whatever protocol they have in place to try and make more money.

Scheduling, check-in and check-out is easy, efficient and friendly. The staff are welcoming and treat us like family, not customers. The care team is knowledgeable, compassionate, and thorough. I never feel rushed or like we're being pressured to pay for unnecessary tests or services. On the occasions that I've left my pet in their care, he's returned to me in the timeframe we were promised and in tip-top condition. Its obvious that my pet has been treated like family in their care.

Dr Chris Spears was awesome to work with after my wonderful Finn was diagnosed with a nasty cancer. I loved her wholistic approach to fighting the cancer. He had a good year and a half of quality life after being given just six months to live! I highly recommend ‘Dr Chris!’

This team has taken such great care of our fur babies. They’ve gone above and beyond for us on many occasions. I truly trust them and wish we weren’t moving out of state we would keep going there forever.
