How to Save Money at MaxFund Wellness Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The young women at the front desk were kind and friendly. I wish the vet listened better. I liked her in general, but felt what she wanted to say was more important than what I was trying to communicate. Super expensive visit for what was done, I felt.

My first visit at this clinic was good and the female doctor that I saw was very kind and helped my dog with his issue. However a month after I had taken him in and he finished his medication I was told to call to discuss the outcome with one of the doctors. So a month later that’s what I did. After the first call, I didn’t get a callback from the doctor right away, and gave them the benefit of the doubt by giving them 2 days to call me. On the third day I decided to call and ask to speak with a doctor again, but had to leave a voicemail because for some reason no one can answer the phone ever even though there have been 2-3 people up front each time I’ve been there. Finally got the front desk to call me back and I could tell the person hadn’t even listened to my voicemail because she was trying to schedule an appointment. Once she finally listened she said she’d let a doctor know to call me back that day. Well I was never called so on the 4th day from my first phone call I called again and clearly I was upset from my tone in my voicemail but never rude. That afternoon one of the male doctors called me and was less than pleasant. I felt as though I was burdening him by calling because my dog needed something further done as he was not doing great since finishing his medication. The doctor told me his plan and allowed me to ask one question before he quickly hung up. He did prescribe more medication for my dog, however I’m frustrated that pricing wasn’t communicated with me because when I picked up the medication I was not expecting to pay the price I did for this being a “more affordable” vet clinic which is the only reason I went here in the first place. I have never been treated so horribly by a vet clinic or had so many issues. I would rather return to the original veterinary clinic that I was taking my dogs too instead of going some to a place where I feel like they only see me as a walking dollar sign instead of truly caring for my dog who is MY baby. I would recommend ANYWHERE else than this place

We set up an appointment for our cat to have dental work and they said that's what they would do. I let them know when we dropped her off that she had a mass that needed to be looked at and biopsied. I asked them to start at the beginning with teeth and mass and to go from there. I had not really given permission to do everything else. I feel like they ignored me. What they actually did was charge us for rabies and boosters and checked heart and kidneys, sedation and physical exam. The doc came in and told us that they needed to take X-rays of a mass in her abdomen before they fix her teeth, so why charge the other blood tests if the mass might be malignant? We payed 542 dollars for things we didn't ask for. If they were fair, they would use the money we have given them for her x-ray. We also thought that Max Fund worked with income. If they ever did, they don't anymore. We were given paperwork to call certain charities. We don't have the money for the care that our Mama needs and we definitely won't have it if we continue to be price gauged. She has lost so much weight and is very much skin and bones. We feel all her ribs and can count the bumps on her spine. I feel like they could see how skinny she is and that her teeth needed work so she can eat. I don't know how that would be overlooked.

There are three buildings, one is the Wellness Clinic, one us for cat adoptions and one is for dog adoptions. Parking is terrible and Inca St is under construction at the moment. There is severely limited handicap parking, only one spot, and an employee in the clinic requires use of that spot. But other than that, the services are exceptional and the people are great.

I can’t thank the staff here enough for taking such wonderful care of my baby boxer boy, Kylo, during his neuter. He bounced right back, and is healing perfectly. Thank you for making this process easy, stress free, and affordable for our family. The nail trim also looks great! He needed it. You guys are amazing!
