How to Save Money at Clearview Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Had called around to well over 10 clinics today to try to get my baby seen because something was wrong with her foot. Finally called here and they had availability to see us. The lady over the phone had genuine compassion and concern for my dog in her voice and was so sweet. Come appointment time, everyone in the entire clinic was so kind and caring towards us and was trying to make Nova feel comfortable, despite her shaking due to being in pain and scared. When the vet checked her I asked if x-rays were needed because I was scared this would be a very large bill for my wife and I. Vet said she doesn’t feel a broken bone and doesn’t want to do unnecessary testing or lab work to stress my baby out anymore than she already is. The kindness and compassion I was shown today almost puts me in tears and I’m highly considering changing our vet to them. For an emergency day of vet visit, this is the cheapest I have ever paid. I can’t even get out of our regular vet for how much I paid today. The ladies in this clinic have the upmost compassion and consideration I have ever seen in a clinic. My baby is back home and loving every minute of floor cuddles and kisses thanks to the ladies I saw today!

I was grateful to get a same-day appointment when I called. It was my dogs first time here and they were wonderful with her. I was in and out within an hour/ 1½hrs. Excellent service and staff.

Highly recommended! I called to get my dog in quickly as we have to board him and needed to update his vaccines and they got us in the day after we called. We have an 18 month old rottie and he struggles with reactivity especially in high stress situations, so I let them know my concerns and they were very informative on what we could do to prepare for the visit including getting a basket muzzle and they even gave us calming chews to give him a couple hours before the appointment. Since they knew that he is very reactive and gets stressed, when I got there we were able to get straight back to a room to avoid my dog just sitting in the waiting room acting crazy. They were absolutely amazing with our dog, they didn’t overwhelm him by talking to him all excited or trying to pet him, they went at his pace and we were able to successfully get through the appointment/vaccinations! The vet tech Ash is who we saw for the majority of the appointment, and she was absolutely amazing. She was so patient and calm, and didn’t even flinch when our big scary dog barked his disapproval at her poking him! We’ve had poor experiences with vets in the past that have only made his anxiety/reactivity at the vet worse, and I know that they will help change his perception of vet visits to be more positive over time. I’m extremely thankful and we will be lifelong customers of Clearview!

Had a great experience. Wonderful vet he spent time with me and let me ask lots of questions and share my feelings about options for my elderly and much loved dog Duke. Highly recommend and will use this vet for all 4 dogs. Everything was quick and efficient. Office was able to squeeze me in for help when my dog injured his leg and no one else had availability. New to area had not yet found a Vet but I have now!

Our cat has been seen here a few times and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and possibly tumors. We did treatment but his condition severely worsened. We scheduled a euthanasia for him and were quoted $45 since they diagnosed him. It was a complete different story in office. They shamed us for not being able to afford $500-$2,000 in testing and treatment. Then made us feel guilty for wanting to move forward with the original plan and then gave us a quote of $280 that required us to cremate our cat instead of burying him as we have done with all other pets. We decided to leave but still had to pay a $65 exam fee for them to just tell us his lungs are bad which you can hear from a mile away. Thank you clear view for absolutely nothing and making a hard day 100x worse. We have decided to go through a much more caring and considerate veterinarian. I recommend anyone else in this position do the same. I would give zero stars if I could.
