How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We love the care Banfield gives to our dog & cat! Everyone is lovely and cares about their job of pet care! The only problem is a constant changing of Docs. I never know which Doc will be taking care of pets from one visit to the next…otherwise best Pet Clinic!! We do like Dr. Miller!

The short intake lady w/tatoos was very rude to my wife and me (2nd time to me) while checking in my boxer She failed to ensure we received the after care stitched wound instructions for our boxer. We'll my boxer chewed off his stitches. He now has an opened wound. Our poor baby boy has to be put under and restitched.. They are taking zero responsibilities for failure to provide instructions to us.

As a pet parent Banfield Pet Hospital is a Great choice. 1) We can pay for our pets(s) care monthly. 2) The staff communicates efficiently and explains checkup results. 3) Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

This place it NOT a hospital. My pup suffered 1 week before having to put him down yesterday 4 hrs after stopping at Banfield and being told there’s no doctor to see him. A WEEK IN PAIN SINCE LAST SATURDAY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO DOCTOR TO SEE HIM ON 4/16!!!! The pet hospital told me that if Banfield would have seen him and given me recommendations, we could have taken preventive action sooner. 11 hrs after putting my fur baby to sleep I check the Banfield app to complain and now my pup has been removed from the app. It’s like since he passed, all his records were deleted. Are you serious!? You should change your name from Banfield Hospital to Banfield clinic because you are deceiving people by promoting yourself as hospital. Also “walk in” my a$$…. Both times I’ve walked with him & I’ve been turned away. So excatly what am I paying a health plan for?? I’m going to remember walle for how he was& his last painful moments, but Banfield - your lack of service and compassion that we received for our injured animal is a far cry from the services you promote. Here’s a last photo of walle before he passed away yesterday. The “I’m sorry for your loss” will never bring back the pain you have caused our family. Twice my pup walle suffered with you - being turn away this last time when I begged for someone to see him. Several hours later he lost full mobility in his hind legs and the time before that he was choking and was turned away too. Confused as Banfield “hospital” is not really a “hospital”!?!?!? Please change your name to Banfield Clinics.

Way to hard to get an appointment with my schedule. You're looking at a month before getting in. Got sent to another location, and when I got there, they didn't have my appointment, which I heard the lady here make. It's really hard to cancel your plan, too! I'm wondering about the dental cleaning, as each time he's gone in, they want to remove teeth. Not seeing what they are telling me! I'm going to get a second opinion, as I lost my trust with them.
