How to Save Money at Sploot Veterinary Care - Central Park

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Bun is a very newly rescued stray from the San Luis valley. When we got her, she was underweight, had fleas, and a puncture wound on her neck that looked like it had gone untreated for some time. She looked like she had been through a lot, but still had so much love to give. Initially, I was going to take her to Chewy on 8th which is our primary vet, but they were fully booked a week out. I didn't want to wait that long, so I took her in to Sploot for a same day exam on Monday. Due to certain regulations with strays, they couldn't see her until Thursday. The staff was so incredibly kind, and a nurse came out to the waiting area and took a quick peek at Buns neck just to make sure it wasn't anything that needed immediate attention. I ended up taking her back this afternoon for a health exam, and the entire experience with Sploot was above and beyond. Tab, at the front desk, was there again, and was so incredibly kind, even remembering Bun by name when we came in. Lynne was our nurse, and was so amazing with Bun, giving her all the loves and treats 😌 Dr. Ramirez was our vet and she was absolutely wonderful. She answered every question I had and made sure that Bun got all the care she needed, seeing as we had no previous records for her. Every single person I encountered in the office was amazing. I was blown away by their professionalism and obvious love for each animal that comes into their establishment. They really showed me they care. Thank you everyone at Sploot for all you did for miss Bun! We look forward to seeing y'all again soon!

Cooper is very excited to have a new vet in his new home! Staff is very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable! Plenty of parking space and areas to go potty before entering. Love the ease of cashless and that they do not push, they inform 😇 don't forget to grab a bag and some treats for after your appointment 🐾

Was able to get a same day appointment very easily! The staff and vet were all lovely. Great, clean facilities with lots of treats available to calm my pup! The last vet group I went to whisked my dog to the back room for vitals and everything - here they did the vitals and exam all in the room. Good price transparency - they told me what it would cost before doing the procedures. Will definitely be back when his preventative visit is due!

Booking an urgent care appointment was very easy. Once we arrived I was impressed at how new and clean everything is. The staff was very kind. I feel very confident in the doctor’s recommendations and felt like they really cared. It was nice getting texts from them checking in after then appointment. I prefer this to phone calls any day. I would return here if we need care. The price of things was discussed at each step and I did not feel pressured to spend more than I was comfortable.

Dr Deluty and the team at the Central Park location go above and beyond. They are kind, knowledgeable, and all around make the experience so wonderful. I had to bring my cat here earlier this month for an emergency injury. I’ve never in my 5 years of having her had to bring her into a vet as an emergency and I was worried to say the least about where to take her and how it would go. This team and her doctor made this experience so smooth. I felt like I could trust them as soon as I walked in and I was right. You can really trust this place! My girl is all better now and we will most definitely be using Sploot for every visit in the future.
