How to Save Money at Vaca Valley Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This is the best vet that I have been to in Vacaville. The staff is very friendly. The vet is very good. He explains things and he always does everything right in front of you. I’m very happy with them.

I was watching my son's dog for him & she happened to have a episode of some type (labored breathing, shaking, dialated eyes and fever - never happened before) and I had no idea what was happening to her, thought she got into something/possible poison? My regular vet was short staffed wouldn't see me, not even for this emergency, told me to go to the 'emergency clinic' in Cordilia, at 2:45p on a Friday afternoon (ya right, it would have taken over an hour to get there) Called another local vet I had been to a few years back as I was heading to the freeway. Explained the situation. They were more worried about finding me in thier records to see if I was in fact ever seen there, rather than actually concerned about my 'granddogger' and my fear that she may not make it to the Emergency Vet. Again, with an attitude, told to go to the ER vet. Hopped on the freeway, just when I saw the Alamo Exit sign, I remembered the little Vet office next to Sweet Pea's that we went to when we first moved to Vacaville in 91'. Hooked it off the freeway and pulled into the lot. Rushed into the office frantic. Blerted out what was going on and begged them to help me. THEY WERE WONDERFUL!!! The front office ladies got me into a room in less than 3 minutes, the doctor came in to assess the situation in less than 2 minutes. And mind you, they never saw me before that moment. Treated me like I was a long time patient. Explained exactly what treatment they recommended and why. Calmed me down, and took good care of my granddogger!. This is the type of quality that is hard to find in businesses anymore. Thank you to the Doctor and Staff for everything you did for us, you are my hero's ! We will definately be seeing you again going forward. I totally recommend Vaca Valley Vet Hospital to anyone who is looking for a place who truly care for animals well being and are willing to go the extra mile to help pet owners in need.

My dog, a Beagle, is two years old . From last night, he kept drooling and walk shaking. I was scared and didn't sleep all night. I tried to call here at 8 o'clock this morning. I did not expect them to answer! I thought it was a voicemail! Then I tried to talk to the secretary lady , I told her that I still work on my English, I am from Japan, my dog has some abnormalities, can I take him there, she gives me a time at 10:35 this morning, I was really moved ! When my husband and I arrived at the pet hospital, the doctor Jassar checked our puppy. He checked the body and throat of our puppy, then gave him an injection, and some drugs. He didn't force us to use any instruments. And he still remembers our puppy! He is so kind and considerate! He tried to save money for us! When we ended the visit, we only paid $102 for everything! We are really touched! This is the best pet hospital I have ever seen! Thanks to the doctor jassar , thank the lady secretary at the front desk! You are the angels of Buddha and Bodhisattva sent to save animals! Buddha Bodhisattva bless you guys ! Kind people!
