How to Save Money at Tahoe Integrative Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Life changing! I have an autoimmune diseased dog who I have almost lost due to poor health many times and she’s only 2 years old. I finally stepped away from the normal vet and medical system that were regarded at “best in the county” because I was failed time time again. Once I found Dr Wendy I couldn’t believe the alternative care that I could receive. She has supported us back into health when I thought it was hopeless, this means the world to me when our pets are members of the family. My girl is finally a normal dog again, and so full of love and life! I finally feel confident we have many years ahead of us with bountiful existence and I couldn’t have done it without Dr Wendy! Thank you! Words don’t do justice the gift it’s given us to have our beautiful girl not only not suffering but thriving.

We couldn’t of had a better first experience with Doctor Wendy and her team. We are relieved to find the holistic care and understanding her team provides. Our primary care in Tahoe Vista helped us to their fullest capacity, but we’re unable to advise for additional care needed for our companion. We are relieved to know that there is a future aside from the processed prescription diet and pesticides they have prescribed to us without further recommendations. Doctor Wendy listens extensively, examines thoroughly and works to compile a massive amount of data from all previous care to give the most holistic and natural recommendations for the healthiest possible life of your animal. I felt reassured that she is up to date with the best possible facts and research for our companion. At the time we scheduled as new patients, the office let us know that they are taking on new cases pending-review and completely reserve the right to not take on new cases. To clarify, she practices as a speciality provider and patients must remain with a primary care provider.

Tahoe Integrative Vet is not just a top notch veterinary office, it’s a place where pets and their humans are treated with kindness, compassion and so much care. Dr Wendy and her staff are experts in their field. Wendy’s knowledge of both traditional and holistic veterinary medicine surpasses any vet I’ve met. She has a special touch that any animal (and human!) instantly notices. We started going to Dr Wendy’s office with our senior dog. First for just wellness checks and then later, to treat him holistically for cancer. Dr Wendy helped us with nutrition for our pup as well as the right medicine and supplements to keep him well. Our dog had always been terrified at vets offices, but at Dr Wendy’s he just trotted right in and felt at home. When he had cancer, the acupuncture treatments brought him so much relief, we truly feel that it kept him alive much longer than expected (in fact he lived 4 months past what a vet from SVS predicted). Ultimately our dog did pass away and Dr Wendy helped us with his transition. She made the sad, hard process a little easier for us all. She even offers a pet grief support group once per month which we found very helpful. Now, we take our new puppy, rescued from HSTT, to see Dr Wendy. We see the same comfort level with our puppy in her care that our older dog had. If you are looking for the best veterinary care possible, definitely schedule an appointment for your pet at Tahoe Integrative.

Dr Robinson and her team are the absolute BEST!! Their TLC is off the charts!! They're super thorough in their practice, explanations, and advice. They do not price gouge. They consider costs. Most importantly, they always explain what is in the best interest of our fur babies. Also importantly, we love the more natural approach to treatments combined with "traditional" approaches when needed. Been going here for 8 years now. I will not take my fur babies anywhere else!
