How to Save Money at Animal Care Clinic Stockton

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The doctor came in examined my rescued kitty then left. Didn't seem interested in having a conversation or even discussing what he thought was wrong with him. He was very short. I thought he was coming back in but awhile later the nurse came in with medicine. It would have been nice for the doctor to discuss with me what his diagnosis was or what he believed to be wrong with my kitten. I didn't receive any information. When the nurse came back she just read what the directions on the prescriptions. I had to ask her what was wrong with my Kitten. They wanted to charge me 200 dollars for an FIV test which is typically 30-50 dollars on average!

Cremation service for my 15-year-old Chihuahua mix girl that passed they wanted $385 at Rosemarie pet clinic and two other places. Animal Care clinic was 260 for the exact same service with all the exact same amenities. They've been great with my animals for the past couple years. Always priced lower than most if not all nearby vets.

Customer service was great my issue is with the veterinarian I went there because I found a stranded kitchen that was very sick. They scheduled me and appointment for the same day. The ladies up front were fantastic except when I called in an hour after the appointment for some explanation and received the wrong information. The vet came in, did a thorough examination and did not ask me any questions. He said he would be right back. He never returned instead a young lady came in with a sheet of paper of $700 worth of services and medication the cat needed. The veterinarian did not talk to me about what was wrong with the kitten and what needed to be done. I could tell when I was asking the assistant with the paper questions about the kittens health she was just guessing because of the medications prescribed.

Every time I took an animal there, they said they cannot help me. Not once did I get help, even the one time they took my dog in. The time they took Ace in, it was two hours after I got there. They never triaged him until I threw a fit. The girl said she forgot. He was dying in my arms until finally after I finally got their attention and they listen to his heart. His gums were white as paper. Two hours from my first call till the time they looked at him. They were coming in an out looking at far less serious animals. Do not take your pet here! They do not care!! This is my dog being rushed in to the hospital when they finally realized he needed help!

Yesterday i had to make the difficult decision of putting my cat down. After a few days of barely eating and drinking, a few years of diabetes, and being 14 years old.I knew it was time. The vet agreed yet didn't rush or pressure me at all. He was very proffesional. The assistant "Morgan" was a blessing. She was beyond kind, helpful, understanding , and sweet. She hugged me twice, and was there for me. So thankful for everyone in this noble profession, keeping their empathy, and just being kind. Thank you. Patricia Morgan (She made a very difficult time easier, and it was so appreciated!)
