How to Save Money at Valencia Veterinary Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My baby got sick. Our current Vet didn't have an opening. I was panicking because she is in her later years. I wanted someone to just fix her. I remembered that Valencia Veterinary has emergency hours. I called but there was no answer so I submitted an online request. They called me within a couple hours. They were super sweet and made an appointment for the next day. They even pulled up her previous chart from an emergency visit back in 2012. I arrived 30 minutes early so I could show them the updated vaccines. I was expecting to wait since I was super early. They immediately put us in a room!!! They were very helpful and caring. Within 11 minutes the nurse was in to take Tinkerbell back for the exam. I ended up having to leave her for fluids and treatment. The doctor didn't push any treatment or test. I chose which ones I wanted with absolutely no pressure. They said about 2 hours. The whole thing ended up taking about 2 hours 40 minutes. Which is super impressive. The price is on point. They are an amazing facility. Not the cheapest but absolutely fair and worth it. They even cleaned the rooms between clients. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff and exquisite facility. They absolutely care about the animals and people. Tinkerbell was drowsy from the treatment but recovered by that evening. She is back to normal now.

Upon the advice of my 25/7 vet helpline, I brought our 2 year old kitty to this facility. I had called on my way and they took me in (and warned me about the wait). The lady at the front desk was very friendly. The tech was very communicative. The vet was very caring and professional. After having to leave my kitty there all day, I received several phone calls with updates about diagnostics, cost, and status throughout the day. Thankfully, our kitty is feeling much better now. I’m grateful for this team who took great care of her!

I called Valencia vet about my two fur babies yesterday and they got us in today. The service was impeccable, staff was kind and took great care of my two fur babies. There was an emergency that came in, they apologized for the wait and that we could come back later for the nail trim. All the other services were completed. We ran errands and called the vet office. Said it was slow and could come in. We went in, dropped off a sample that the vet needed, got nail trim done. I asked if I could get our pup microchip and they were able to do it. I can't say enough about Valencia vet, I would give more stars if I could. They are amazing and very caring staff. Ericka helped us with everything today. Thank you Erika for your kindness, due diligence and amazing customer service. Valencia Veterinary Center Rocks. Thank you to the entire staff for taking great care of my fur babies.

I’ve been going here for a while and stopped after July. It’s been some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced in vet care. There’s just no communication between anyone. No one in the entire building talks to each other. I’ve never gotten a single call back about any test results or when I can pick up my dog. It’s always a fight to get any information, and then I have to wonder if the information is reliable. The front desk staff were often rude about trying to get me in contact with their boss. It was insane because I have spent thousands of dollars, and I’m not asking to be treated like royalty. I just want to know if my dog is hurt, but he would probably just die and they wouldn’t even let me know. Absolutely ridiculous.

I had to take my dog here because her usual vet wasn't available. Valencia Vet got me in right away which was wonderful. The front office staff were warm and empathetic. The Dr was very helpful and knowledgeable and spent a lot of time with me explaining what was going on as well as suggesting options for my dog to get well. I felt cared for and would return to Valencia Vet!
