How to Save Money at Urgent Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We went here for the first time today and had an exceptional experience! Dr. Crawford is one of the most professional and kindest animal doctors we have met. She took very good care of our dog Izzie. She took the time to explain to us what was going to be done and answered all of our questions. Our entire experience from the phone call to make an appointment to leaving today with Izzie feeling so much better, was one of the best experiences we have had! All of her staff is very kind and caring. Thank you for Dr. Crawford for bringing this amazing gift to our community! Gina, Marty, Izzie and Ozzie Bell

I will always go back to this place should my pup need urgent care. He had a minor broken toe nail issue and was told about the procedure, which would have probably been a bandage and a cone til it heals. After asking if this is something that could be monitored at home, I made an informed decision that I could do the bandaging at home and should bring him back if it got infected. Their honesty will make me a forever customer. Thank you so much for hiring a great staff!

I have only had one experience at this place so far but it was a great one. I had to wait quite a while to be seen but was happy they fit me in at all and they were having a crazy day so I didn't hold it against them. The entire staff was extremely kind and accommodating and in just sitting there while I waited watching the staff interact with other people and animal patients, I could tell this was an atmosphere of a hardworking team that is truly passionate about what they do. ESPECIALLY DR. MURPHY! That woman is an angel - she went above and beyond to help me and my cat after hours and I am so thankful. She is so sweet and just had the most peaceful and caring demeanor despite having a stressful day. I definitely recommend this place! (I never write reviews so this experience was a big deal for me!)

I waited at the door from 11 am till they opened (Noon on a Saturday). They honored my wait and made sure my dog was the first to be treated. 30 min later, foxtail removed, 30 min after that, he was back in the car and we were on our way home. Though the cost was a little more than $600, it was actually 1/2 the price of the previous foxtail removal from another emergency vet on a Saturday. Nice staff, smart and knowledgeable doctor. I'd go back again for sure.

Absolutely incredible experience. After our dog sniffed up a foxtail while on a remote camping trip in the central coast over Juneteenth weekend, our emergency room options were limited. As we raced down the 101 towards home in Los Angeles, vet after vet was either closed or had 5+ hour emergency room waits. With panic setting in and our poor pup miserable in the back seat, we came across Urgent Veterinary Care, and we're so glad we did. Dr. Murphy was a godsend. She quickly calmed us down, explained next steps, and a few hours later we had our dog back (along with a "souvenir" vial filled the foxtails his nose collected). Our minds were blown by the patient (and owner) care, and the reasonable prices. Although we used UVC's services purely because we had no other options, they should be first on anyone in need's list - we would absolutely return and would recommend to any pet owner. Thanks again!
