How to Save Money at Alona Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a terrible experience with Alona Animal Hospital. My cats got fleas in this place! I have two female cats that were spayed at Alona Animal Hospital, they were healthy before and during surgery. A few days later, I noticed that they were scratching and biting their skin in an unusual way. I thought it was because of the discomfort of the cone. The doctor recommended to leave the cone for two weeks, so I did as they asked. After two weeks, I noticed how they scratched themselves harder more and more. It was very severe to the point that they started hurting themselves. I noticed read spot, nail wounds, and even teeth marks. I brushed them as usual and found that they were infested with fleas! I must say that they are 100% indoor cats and I have no other pets. I treated with flea shampoo and flea sprays but they didn't improve. I decided to go personally to the clinic and tell them about the situation. The front desk person went inside their office rooms to talk to the doctors. After a few minutes, she came out to tell me that they couldn't do anything. I told him that I had done my research on a treatment, but that I needed a prescription. She then replied saying they could sell me the treatment, but I had to pay a consultation fee. It seems quite irresponsible for them to infect our pets, I went to improve the lives of my cats and now I have to spend more money on something that they caused. I am not angry at spending more money if its for their well-being. I am furious at myself and it breaks my heart seeing them how badly they have hurt themselves. I hope and advice you all pet parents to be careful who you trust with your pets. Be responsible since there are vets and clinics out there that the best and only interest is the money.

Started taking my 9week old puppy here and the staff is amazingly friendly. They treated my pup with love and care and he didn’t even whine when getting his vaccines. Will continue to come here and recommend friends and family.

We had been struggling to find a vet with affordable and show that they care about your pets. This place was none like the others. If you are looking to get good pricing and genuine care from the doctors and nurses. I highly recommend this place.

Everyone was so nice & professional. I made an appointment so the wait time was not long at all. The staff were really caring & explained everything step by step. My puppy is 1 pound. They were so gentle with her. The exam was great & it didn't take long for her shots. The prices were unbelievable. I will be returning for her 2nd & 3rd round of shots. I even recommended this place to a family member's fur baby.

I've been to many vets and this is one of my favorite locations by far! :) staff is really friendly and played with my anxious puppy. They all adored him! The prices here are also extremely reasonable, and the rooms looked clean! The only downside is that they don't do emergency pet services, which I would like for one vet to do all, but this is a great place for general appointments.
