How to Save Money at East Hills Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This is a review from a visit in 2015. I will have to start with the negative, the parking sucks and I'm not saying that just because I drive a Suburban. The place could use a good power wash or maybe it's past that point. Either way the establishment can really use a makeover because it looks run down. The rest of Story road (east San Jose) is cleaning up and I think it's important that the establishments do their part too. Besides it just says a lot about your practice. Now on the positive side, the ladies in the front desk were nice but didn't have the best vibe when I first entered, they were not very attentive, maybe because it was a Saturday morning? It was nice that there were separate entrances and waiting areas for the cats and dogs. Prices were very acceptable( the exam was $ 40.00 and the medication was $44.00), the exam room was clean and they scheduled me the same day on a Saturday morning. Dr. Liu is a nice man and my dog liked him too despite his prior visit with the kittens next door to us. Although he could not tell me the exact cause for my dog's swollen gland on throat he did determine what I had thought it was, an infection of some kind. He gave my dog some meds and within a week she was back to normal. Thank you again Dr. Liu!

I originally called looking to schedule an appointment for my lethargic cat, but was advised to walk-in the next morning (9am). The wait was very short, which I was later told was not typical. Dr Lu gave my cat a thorough evaluation and was very knowledgeable and professional as he diagnosed its injuries/illness. The front desk (assistants) were friendly and kept to a pretty tight process. As others mentioned, the prices are very reasonable. Don't judge this place by its appearance...this is a no-nonsense, no-up selling, non-flattering facility...but the care is very good.

I've used this Veterinary clinic for my pets, including vaccinations, reg. Checkups & occasional sickness. The location is the East side of San Jose and they prefer a call prior to visiting. All animals must be leashed, caged or held when inside Vet's lobby.

I need a very last minute appt for my kittens first vaccines and called them for pricing and welcomed me in very last minute as a walk in. The help I received was awesome and trusted them with my kitten. Very sweet and hilarious receptionist they have! Guided me through the process and very reasonable prices for your fur babies! Since my kitten is only 8 weeks old I couldn’t tell if it was a boy but I decided to name him Cantinflas but the receptionist said what if it’s a girl…possible ‘La India Maria’…. I WAS ROLLING!!!!!! Love this clinic already!!!!

Came by today for an urgent issue around 1pm. Google said they were open. When I called ahead and no one answered, I assumed they were just busy. Place was deserted and locked up. Very disappointed. Thankfully another agency was able to care for my pet.
