How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
They were able to squeeze me and my Lucky Boy in for a check up. The Dr and assistants were all very friendly and patient. In fact, everyone from the front desk on back was lovely, professional, and kind to both pet owners and their pets as they came through the door.

Took my dog here due to the challenges at the Seaside location. I'm not sure how to rate this place. I was berated over the phone by the vet for not taking her recommendations. I will always get a second opinion, which didn't seem acceptable. My after appointment to see my dog. Their automated system is wacked out. 1st text confirming my appointment, the response was to call them. The next day, the text to confirm worked fine. The next day I received the appointment confirmation text, I responded and the reply was, "the appointment was canceled." What? I called they said to come in. I brought my dog in. He was taken away then brought back within 2 minutes saying all was good. The next day I receive a text saying, "sorry you missed your appointment." This was Banfield Salinas. After my experiences at Banfield Seaside & Salinas, I'm hanging it up with this organization. My pup is too important to have regrets with his care.

I've been going to Banfield pet hospital for almost 3 years for my 12year old cat joe Friday and I love it my vet Dr. Sullivan. Is the best and I Recommend her to all of my friends and co-workers. She treats your pet like her own and loves your pet as equally as much as you she explains everything you need to know or watch out for when it comedown to a pet with health problems my cat joe Friday was Diagnosed with stage 2 Kidney disease in 2020 and we as a team managed it for almost 2 years in February 2023 his health started to down hill he had An upper respiratory infection that kick off to an even more extreme experience for me he got an ear infection in April and we then found out his kidney disease was at the last stages Stage 4. Dr. Sullivan Is there every step of the way and tells you where to go for specialists. We then found out he had a mass in his abdomen that was Cancerous. He went down hill so fast in one month and haveing a great vet that helps and communicates and tells you everything good or bad is the best you can ask for. I had to let joe Friday cross the rainbow bridge in May of 2023 2 weeks after finding out he had cancer it was hard and hurt alot Dr. Sullivan was there with me and for me every step of the way holding my hand through the hardest Decision. I had to make and still being there after my pet as passed Banfield and Dr. Sullivan I truly say with love from the bottom of my heart that this is a great hospital to go to!!.

Hospital/Boarding for your pet(s) through this place is awesome. Staff, even when they are short, are super professional, on-time, caring and very customer service oriented. This applies from the Veterinarian to the Kennel Attendant. My two large GSD’s absolutely love staying here, as it is like their mini vacation location. Decent comparable pricing for services offered through this business. Definitely this is my family go to.

I made a follow up appointment for my dog Zack. When I made the appointment I notified them that I wanted to be present for Zack’s checkup. A week later, when I arrived for the appointment they wanted me to drop him off. I informed them that I wanted to be present for the appointment. They told me that my being present was not an option. I canceled the appointment. I get the sense that they want us to drop off our pets so that they can stick them in a cage for 3 hours, see them at their own convenience, and make more appointments/money. My dog’s not a car that I’m dropping off at the mechanic. He’s alive, has feelings and I love him. I’ve read some of the poor reviews here and I’ve noticed that Banfield keeps putting up the same response to bad reviews , “please contact us so that we can discuss this further.” When I was present in their office, they didn’t want to discuss anything with me. They clearly didn’t value my business and that message they keep putting up is just for show. They are attempting to deceive those of you reading these reviews into thinking that they care and would actually problem solve to resolve these issues but when I was present, seeking a resolution , they turned me away. There is no longer any need to discuss anything. There are other, more compassionate and caring veterinarians. I’ll just take my business elsewhere and I recommend you do the same.
