How to Save Money at Arlington Animal Hospital Inc. and 24 Hour Emergency Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I give them 5 stars! Very professional. Very clean. The staff is amazing. There is a little wait, but it’s an emergency hospital so they do take the most critical first. It’s worth the wait. My Lily had to stay for a couple days. I was a wreak, but I knew she was in good hands. They sent me text messages with updates. They even sent pictures. They always answered my questions and if they didn’t have an answer. They found someone that did. A lot of the reviews say. They are expensive. I say you get what you pay for. I’ve been to a couple places that were disgusting and not clean at all. People were rude and no compassion. The staff are honest and caring people. Lily is doing great because of them. Thank you everyone for making this traumatic experience pleasant. You guys are the best! Thank you The Gomez/Alvarez Family Lily thanks you too.

Our 10 year old cat had a abscess that needed surgery Dr Burgermiester explained the procedure and Anna was very helpful with the discharge and after care instructions. Our follow-up appointment was with Dr McAnally she was very sweet and Ciara was helpful with our home care instructions. Our kitty is doing well and we are grateful. Thanks to everyone for the great care.

Brought in my kitty because he was in critical condition. They automatically ask for a deposit without even checking my cat. Then the front desk red head lady with glasses has a condescending attitude and tone her name was Emma. Extremely rude and zero compassion for the situation. They charge $100 just for the doctor to be able to see your pet. The doctor just weighted him and checked his pulse. That’s literally it these doctors are incompetent and money-hungry. After they told me my kitty couldn't be saved I had to leave the room to debrief my mom and siblings on what was going on. Emma then comes and starts yelling while I have tears running down my face talking about how I couldn't leave the the cat alone in the room…1st of all the doctor told me I could excuse myself from the room since she understood the situation I was going through and understood the fact that I wanted to tell my mom what was going on and to get some Comfort. 2nd of all I understand if it's against protocol to leave the pet alone in the room but to see me grieving and to come and yell at me? Like, be so Serious Right Now. I sadly lost my baby but I cannot get over how I was treated at this vet. Very inhumane and with no compassion for the circumstances. Please save your coin and go to Redlands emergency let hospital.

I have taken my dogs here a few times and always had a great care. Last night I had to take my dog in. I have to say the staff was very nice and helpful but the vet was extremely RUDE. I even thanked him after he check her… he didn’t even acknowledge and walked away. I can’t believe that someone can be that rude when you are working at an emergency vet and you have people upset that something is wrong with their pet or their pet is dying. Someone needs to work on having a little compassion. I also think that he gave us a quote for work that didn’t need to be done. We came in for my dog having mastitis. He didn’t really address that but wanted to charge us a lot for bloodwork, x-ray, and ultrasound to just start with. We ended up just having them give her fluids and an anti-inflammatory medication. Just that helped her so much and now so can get her into our vet that I trust.

My cat passed away on a Sunday and my regular vet was not open. I called and was quoted $210 over the phone for cremation. We showed up and eventually were put in a back room where they came in with new quotes. They were adding on $100 consultation fees and when I asked for what you didn't do anything and we didn't even see a doctor the animal is dead they said that's their policy. Would of been 310 to relinquish and no ashes back. 425 to cremate with ashes back. My vet does it for 160. I could understand adding fees for euthanasia because it's medication in your supplies but my pet was already deceased. It was not about the money it was about their ethics so we left. I also noticed while in the waiting room them telling distraught owners that every one of those patients needed surgery for big bucks. I understand emergency care but I felt they were taking advantage of people.
