How to Save Money at Pacific Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

"I am beyond grateful for the exceptional care my beloved Lola received at Pacific Animal Hospital. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff made us feel welcomed and at ease. The level of professionalism and compassion displayed by the entire team was truly remarkable. Dr. and the veterinary staff went above and beyond to ensure Lola's well-being. They took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explain the diagnosis and treatment options. Their expertise and attention to detail gave me confidence in the care Lola was receiving. The facilities at Pacific Animal Hospital were clean, well-maintained, and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It was evident that the hospital prioritizes the comfort and safety of their animal patients. Additionally, the administrative staff was incredibly helpful and efficient. They handled appointments, paperwork, and billing seamlessly, making the whole process stress-free. I cannot thank the Pacific Animal Hospital enough for their outstanding service. They truly have a genuine passion for animals and their well-being. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone seeking exceptional veterinary care for their furry companions. Lola and I are forever grateful!" Thank you so so 🙏

My other vet clinic for over 50 years would not take a pet emergency. PAH was recommended by my dog walker and I got in the next day. Dr. Hanna was knowledgeable and friendly. And they allow parent to be in examing room w pet.

I'm so happy I found Dr. Hanna and staff. After bringing home a puppy at the start of the pandemic and having not met any of her vets face-to-face for her first 1.5 years and having difficulty getting in, I decided to try someone new when she had an injury and found my way to PAH after reading all of the amazing reviews. It was so nice to finally speak IN PERSON to my pup's vet and be in the same room with my anxious girl. Dr. Hanna is easy to talk to, knowledgable, patient with my questions, very thorough, and he was the one to finally get to the bottom of all of her stomach issues. The staff is equally as great. Thank you PAH!

I am Visiting from out of state and my dog was having problems. I called Pacific Animal Clinic and Dr. Hanna’s office gave me an appointment for an hour after my call. The staff is friendly and caring and professional. Dr. Hanna is the best! Took time to talk with me and get acquainted with my dog before he spent a great deal of time examining my dog and then ran some tests. Blood test were taken and here is the best part of our experience. The next day Dr. Hanna called, yes called me, with results of the blood test! All is well with my dog but Dr. Hanna explained each part of the blood test. I highly recommend Pacific Animal Hospital and Dr. Hanna. If i could Give more than 5 stars i would. Price was reasonable!

I've had a great experience with Pacific Animal Hospital! I took my dog there for ~2 years, even though I lived 45 minutes away because (1) it was always easy to get appointments that were within a couple days, (2) the cost was lower than other vets in my area, and (3) I really liked Dr. Hanna and his staff! Unfortunately I moved even further away, so I won't be returning in the near future, but I wanted to leave this review because this was one of my favorite vets I've seen over the past 20+ years of being a dog owner!
