How to Save Money at Inland Empire Veterinary Surgical Specialty

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog tore her CCL last week and it’s been very chaotic for me to find the right treatment and the right vet. This office came highly recommend to me, and now I know why. From the first call in, to the first visit, and all the way through the process of my dog getting surgery yesterday, the staff and vet have been truly amazing. You can tell how much they care about animals and understand the stress you might be going through with your fur baby. The surgery was obviously expensive but this place was more reasonable than most who didn’t have nearly the same reputation. I strongly recommend this vet should you be looking into surgery for your pet. They also are board certified- I will definitely return should I ever need to. Thank you IEVSS for the great experience and care you gave Marley!

If you're searching for a veterinary surgical specialty practice that will provide excellent care for your furry family member, look no further than Inland Empire Veterinary Surgical Specialty (IEVSS). I had the pleasure of working with them when my Maltese dislocated his leg joint and required months of recovery. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in good hands. The staff at IEVSS were kind, understanding, and made every effort to make my dog feel comfortable. They worked with us on scheduling appointments and were very fair priced, which was a big relief for us. Dr. Miller, our veterinarian, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She took the time to explain the treatment plan thoroughly and was always available to answer any questions we had. Even better, my sensitive little guy wasn't nervous or afraid of the staff at IEVSS, which speaks volumes about their level of care. Throughout the three months of casts and x-rays, I never felt like I was being taken advantage of or gouged. The staff was efficient, and I always felt confident in my dog's recovery plan. Even when I had to bring my other dogs in while they weren't patients, the staff was very accommodating and took excellent care of them. Overall, I would highly recommend IEVSS to anyone who needs a reliable, caring, and professional veterinary surgical specialty practice. They're simply the best and went above and beyond to take care of my furry family member. Thank you, IEVSS!

In January Sarah the Search Dog was performing ball retrieval training and managed to slip in the grass, tearing her ACL. We were referred by two Corona Vets who highly recommended IEVSS to look at and evaluate Sarah's condition. Long Story Short-Sarah underwent surgery and her recovery is unbelievable. She is a volunteer with my wife Dana for the Riverside County Sheriff Search and Rescue team so this surgery was an important decision if we wanted her to live out her best life serving the community (She is a natural). Dana and I want to thank the staff for their love and care of Sarah during this process. She is nearly 100% recovered and is back to training; though slowly and under supervision. We anticipate a 100% recovery for her and return to full duty soon! If you love your animal and care for them as we do, this is the best place to go to assist them through injury such as this.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the exceptional care provided by Dr. B and Dr. Miller at IEVSS. They are true experts in their field and demonstrated unparalleled professionalism and skill throughout our experience. Our beloved dog underwent TPLO surgery recently, and from the moment we stepped into the clinic, we felt reassured and supported. Dr. Miller took her time to thoroughly explain the procedure and answer all of our questions, putting our minds at ease. The surgical procedure was a success, and our dog's recovery was smooth, thanks to the expert care provided by the surgical team. They were not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, showing genuine concern for our pet's well-being. The entire staff at IEVSS was wonderful, from the receptionists to the nurses and technicians. Everyone was friendly, caring, and attentive to both our pet's needs and our own anxieties as worried pet parents. I highly recommend Dr. B, Dr. Miller, and the entire team at IEVSS to anyone in need of orthopedic care for their furry family members. They have made a significant difference in our dog's life, and we are forever grateful for their expertise and kindness.
